Got it running with windower, otherwise i get the 7217,,I thought I had it running before,,You may be right I copied everything over,,applied the patch ran it and the cd was still in the drive ,,Think I'll try copy ,,patch ,,edit the ini,,Using the cd isn't a problem it's always next to the machine,,But I'll mess around and see what works. But first I'm heading for your site...
No tried not running it after patching edited the ini then took out the cd still hollers for it ..So I'll leave it in...Don't use the cd drive a lot ..

I have several versions of the no cd patch. One includes the following readme: 1. Install EAW (Full install). 2. Apply EAW patch version 1.2. 3. Run EAW once & exit 4. Copy eaw.exe to your EAW dir 5. Add/replace the following in your EAW.INI file...
[Miscellaneous] Debug Flags=0 Debug Path=.\
6. Put your CD in a safe place. 8. To save HD space you can replace movies.cdf with the supplied version (but you will get odd neon effects if you later forget and go into that section of the game). 9. Enjoy quicker load times, and no fooling about with the CD.
Note it requires the patched exe included in the dl. This is the fix that happens if you want to do it manually with a hex editor: The actual fix entails the following...
European Air War NO CD fix hex edit ----------------------------------- 1. Search for: C0 0F 8C 20 00 00 00 8D Replace with: C0 90 90 90 90 90 90 8D
(Occurs once in EAW v1.0 and twice in EAW v1.1)
2. Edit EAW.INI Search for: Debug Path= Replace with: Debug Path=.\ I think Mark has both the No CD 1.2 patch and Jaeger's 1.2 no CD patch, which is where the above info came from. Cheers!

Thanks Tony ..I'll check it out..A group I'm with might be using 1.2..Not sure right now but wanted to be ready which ever version we end up using..Looked at OAW nothing there ..Going to check out some of my old cd's..Hopefully we will go with something else.
Went to Sandbaggers found a couple to fix the 7217 error Sybods and yours didn't need the cd but menu screens were Psychedelic thought I was back in the 60's...Also found the 1.26 colors cleaned up but bad menus with no background..I will try starting from scratch but hopefully we will use something else..But todays Sunday usually I put on some music,,cook and fly all day good for the soul

OK only thing that seems good as Jells suggestion 1.26e works well..Still 7217 error but windower fixes that..I'll fly that version today and mess with OAW Found it a EAW key files at Mikes.
Hell even stranger found a modified 1.2a exe..Asks for the cd click continue and it runs a 1.2a version.,Think it's a good day to flt 1.4 and 1.5

All the pre-7217 fix exes will need to be run via the windower I didn't require it on Win7, I didn't even know what the DirectDrawWindower was. If it wasn't for Win7 allowing v1.2 to run natively, I wouldn't have ever been back into this game. Just the colors where messed up on the DD menu screens but a special Win7 reg fix corrected that. Now with Win10 it runs natively too, and without the color problems. The key is make sure your reg is clean of EAW.EXE entries and to patch all the way to 1.2 before running it.
