I know it gets slated around here for non realism etc. But, you have to admit the intro is pretty damn cool, almost the start of a sim game from the 90s!!

Ok, Battle of Britains intro with the drive along all those bombers was reeeeally good as well. smile

I loved that shot when I saw that film for the first time, so cool.

I foresee sales of DCS Tomcat to be through the roof just so people can video themselves take off and then land and then make a video using the Top Gun theme haha

I agree. Always loved the dude with the cool moves on the deck during the traps.

Navy SEALs had a pretty good intro too as I recall.

Pffff.... I shot down Maverick over Nevada last night in my MiG-28... biggrin

At least that's what my wife said. She actually recognized the MiG-28 skin in DCS from the movie.

"Top Gun" is the perfect example of where lack of realism in a film doesn't matter one bit when it comes to box office success. Cinematically the film simply works despite its cheesiness.

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

The cinematography is second to none except for Final Countdown with regards to the Tomcat footage in a movie. I also liked the model work. I really wish more movies still relied on models and not computer generation.

Still gives me goosebumps (pun intended).

If there was ever a movie worthy of the home theatre ButtKicker, this is surely it!
