I know it gets slated around here for non realism etc. But, you have to admit the intro is pretty damn cool, almost the start of a sim game from the 90s!!

Pffff.... I shot down Maverick over Nevada last night in my MiG-28...

At least that's what my wife said. She actually recognized the MiG-28 skin in DCS from the movie.

"Top Gun" is the perfect example of where lack of realism in a film doesn't matter one bit when it comes to box office success. Cinematically the film simply works despite its cheesiness.

The cinematography is second to none except for Final Countdown with regards to the Tomcat footage in a movie. I also liked the model work. I really wish more movies still relied on models and not computer generation.

Still gives me goosebumps (pun intended).

If there was ever a movie worthy of the home theatre ButtKicker, this is surely it!
