Wow they REALLY don't like the officer in the first pic.
"Oh, so I see how it is. I ask you men to do ONE thing, polish my crates of belt buckles with Commandant Reginald's* spit, and that's 'too hard' for you. 'Too stupid'. 'A waste of time'. Is a gentleman like myself looking smashing during battle not truly critical to you plebs? I regret nothing good sirs!"
*bang bang bang bang bang* *carry noises* *sploosh*
*Commandant Reginald being the goat of course.

I'd watch that movie. But why would they have a goat on board? Fresh milk? Was this a common thing back then?
When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

A USN ship commander just got busted for having a goat on board.
Just love looking at these old photos. Thanks PM.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Can't have a goat locker without a goat? Amazing pictures, great to look back in time. Imagine looking back on pictures/video 200yrs from now....
I've got a bad feeling about this.....

Shoveling coal in a white uniform... yeah, that's the way I would have done it. That's for the photographer. It was probably the most clothes they ever wore down there on that day. Burlap sacks were more in style, and if the boiler fire box was large enough, a hood made from burlap sacks to keep the heat from burning their faces. If they were raking the boilers, they were probably naked.

Whew I'd be afraid of sticking my hand in the wrong place on some of those shots. Its interesting to see all the faces. I imagine they were tough as beans. Oh it'd be so cool to go back in time and just observe. Both of my grandfathers were born in the 1890's so I did get to experience some of their old school ways first hand. Wheels

The only grandparent I ever knew, my paternal grandfather, was born in 1895. I am still often amazed when I think of the changes he saw in his lifetime (1895-1976).

My paternal grandfather was born in 1895 and lived until 1978. My maternal grandfather was born in 1894 and lived until late 1997. I agree our grandparents witnessed some wondrous things in their lifetimes. Wheels
