Yes, Day of Infamy the Payware Version, goes on sale July 28, on Steam. Whats new ? A few
of the many items, Bren Gun, Wembley pistol, Flamethrowers, Italy 1943 Map, English Soldiers,
Reichswald Map, to name but a few. Only troubling thing is I can't find out how much ... are
they embarrassed ?

Hey Prof, if you try this out today let us know how it is. I'd be interested in trying it tonight if you give it the thumbs up.

Im interested to see how this stands up as well. It mostly comes down to how the coop is and how smart the AI is. In the free version the AI is complete trash to the point that it ruins the game.

I just got the bundle, got 20 % off, so in Canadian Dollars it was $ 17.76. It should be roughly another 20 % less than that in American Dollars. It's a 3.3 GB Download. I got hi speed so it's taken 5-6 minutes. Just finished, going to give it a try ! smile

Just tried it, slow to load first time but ok after that. For the Canadians, it has the battle for Ortona ! Afraid it uses the real weapons though, Lewis machine gun, Bren gun, Lee-Enfield, Sten gun, but it does have the flame thrower. We NEED that in Insurgency ! smile So far I've only seen 5 maps, but this is only the Alpha. The grenades are period type i.e. Mills granade. It's really very good for the beginning as an alpha, I'm sure there's a lot of users maps to come.

I'm going to be online around 8:00 - 8:15 PM EST tonight if anyone wants to join me and try this ! smile

Ok cool, I'll be there. Just getting things sorted right now. Just tried the first single player mission and it looks like they've done a great job!

Everybody has to get this.

If for no other reason than the flamethrower!

Just had a quick look at the workshop section of the game, the map Carentan is available ! So we can add third party maps in, so there looks to be a lot of content and many hours of game play. Also remember we can switch sides so 5 maps have 10 scenarios to play. There's a lot of new stuff in the game, instead of writing about, I think for most people it's more fun to just explore and try it out for yourselves !

So Prof, Linebacker, Gongo, Bonchie and Sagen have the game and Meatshield is going to get it. If my memory is right Adlabs said he was going to get it. That leaves Vamp and Dead Meat from the regular players to get it. I'm betting they will.

So how about this Saturday we use the payware version of Day of Infamy instead of the Mod ? Any Objections ??? It will take a couple of weeks to explore the game as is, then we could look at adding third party maps !

I need to check on how to setup a server, I'll try to have it ready for this weekend, but no promises!

How is the coop? and how does the patrol game mode play?

My group plays insurgency a lot but we only play the vs Ai stuff like the objective maps and the capture point maps. (we dont play stronghold or the other defend vs wave modes)

I have a few minutes here trying to see about setup.

I think I have a SimHQ DOI server running, with the full coop mapcycle. If anybody could check/join in the next 20 minutes (while I am here and can monitor it), it's appreciated.

Otherwise, we'll try to check it after the session tonight.

Ok, I can see it running myself now. Good stuff, we should be 90% there.

Closed the server for now, and started Insurgency for tonight.

I tried to find it right now, but couldn't. The browse function isn't there now, or I can't find it. I tried
to set a filter but it refreshes instead of allowing you to set a filter (An Alpha bug no doubt). Nonetheless,
we can use a public server Saturday as well, shouldn't be a big problem is we can't get SimHQ going for this weekend.

We haven't tried coop or the patrol mode as of yet. I think it will be a few days before we can say, but the game itself is good and has real potential.

Yep, I was seeing some unusual behavior in the shell text. And I couldn't see the server in the browser.

Then I tried specifying a map on startup, and bingo! Good text report in the shell, and the server was alive in the server browser.

So it should be good, aside from player preferences on starting points for the different modes, and such.

I'll fire it up again tonight after our Insurgency session, just to be sure.

Anybody interested in playing Day of Infamy towards the end of our session today? It's unlikely that I'll be available tomorrow evening, and I wouldn't mind getting some playing time in.
