Adger - as far as the video cards go, the 1080s can be a real pain to get. You literally have to put the ones you would like on 'notify' at Newegg and when they come in stock you get an e-mail notification. You then have about 8 minutes (on a good day) to get it ordered before it goes out of stock again. Low chip yields and high demand because of the excellent performance are making them quite scarce.
The GTX 1070's appear to be a different story though. They tend to be in stock a lot more often. Word on the street is that that offer about 25% less performance than a 1080 and unlike the 970s and their 980 counterparts, don't have the overclock room to make up the difference. That said, they are generally getting great reviews from the owners according to the Newegg ratings but I don't personally know anyone that got one yet. If you do get one, by all means let us know what you think please.
Thanks for your input Hellshade,im hoping to go pick up a 1070 in the next few days.
Its a choice now between 2. The MSI gaming X or the Gigabyte G1,the Msi looks better and has had some excellent reviews but...is upto £60 more expensive here in the uk. The G1 is a smaller card but has had some excellent reviews also. And there,es very little if any difference in FPS. Some of the 1070,s on the forum i use (OCUK) have been boosted to over 2050mhz,i think there,s a little room to play with with them. The 1080 was very tempting it really was but..im not sure i can justify paying nearly £700 for a GPU,my 1070 will be nearly £300 cheaper, and tbh mate i personally dont think the 1080 is worth the extra money over the 1070,if the difference in price was £100-£175 then yep id go with a 1080 and if i had a 4K monitor then maybe.. and coming soon!! the Pascal Titan X which over here in blighty they reckon it could cost over £1100 thats mad money for a GPU. Im upgrading my cpu hopefully within the next week as well pal. Has soon has im done il let you know my thoughts on my 1070 no problems.
Best Regards
