New'ish computer - top of the line 18 months ago - never an issue till now.

Came with onboard (motherboard) sound until about a year ago when I bought a sound card. Things okay till recently then sound card started going bad so I pulled it out and was going back to onboard sound. Still with me?

Now when I went with the sound card I (am almost positive) had to go to the Bios and disable the onboard sound via a simple setting. Well onboard sound didn't work (could get it through the monitor) so I remembered the bios thing from a year ago and went there. Couldn't find the sound setting so I hit "Load Bios default" figuring I was missing it somewhere. Mistake!

Now when I go to start my machine I get a "Inaccessable boot device" message and the computer (W10) is in a endless "boot/try to fix itself/reboot/still broken" thing. Arrgh...

Logically (to me) booting from the primary HD is not working. My system does have a Intel SSD used to "speed up loading times" and I am no longer seeing that info on the screen during boot up.

Help!!

EDIT: Stupid arse. Going thru the bios for the 12th time I found the stupid sound setting! Aargh! Still goofing with boot order which, I guess, is the problem. SOS! Red flare! Panamaaaaa...

EDIT #2: Someone here very recently (Capt Sopwith?) bought a computer very similar to mine - basically it's little brother. What is your boot order please?

Okay.
Switching from SATA to RAID got it to recognize the W10 primary HD as where to boot from so I am working again.
However if the pilot who has the machine similar to mine can post his bios boot order I would be appreciative.
I am sure mine is all scrambled now...

I normally have the Boot order as:
1. CD or USB (for those who want to reinstall a system (that may be moot with W10))
2. C Drive
3. Any other drive

CPU = i9 11900K
GPU = RTX 3080 Ti
Monitor = ASUS ROG Swift PG32UQX 2160p G-sync

Panamaaaa...oh wait. Your here...hehe. Feeling humorous now that I am working again.
Just in time for the work week of course but retirement is coming.

Anyway would a boot order be, in any way, machine specific or are they all pretty much the same?

When you got your computer there should be a disk that has the motherboard drivers. You may have to reload the drivers for your on board sound.

Yes indeed.
After all of the above the RealTek hardware was now visible but still no workee.
Used, the normally useless, Windows driver search online and it found something, installed it, and now I am cooking with gas. Now I will compare which sounds better (RealTek or Nvidia) and stick with that for now.

The sound card really crowded my GTX 970 in my tower and, based on fan speed, I think it was running warmer then normal. And, TBH, I was never really happy with the sound quality. Maybe something on my end though.

Using the manufacturers disc's would be the ultimate last resort as all drivers, MB and bios included, have been updated over time.
