If I remember correctly, Wonder woman's comic book does start during WWI. The first Wonder Woman stories take place in the days of WW2. She made her first appearance in 1941/42. That's from January 1942. They must have changed her background story at some point. I'm not a super hero expert, so I have no idea when that happened. Cool Eindeckers! You don't get to see them often in movies... that may be reason enough to go see this flick.

Looks like it follows the comic book pretty closely. WHAT? Wonder Woman in the trenches? Going over the top, charging Hun machine guns? This is afar cry from the Wonder Woman I knew in the 40's, which was pretty goofy, even then. (Where's her all-glass airplane? Y'think E.III's are going to T-Bone with that?) edit: Oh yeah! And those silly damned bracelets.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

I didn't know that she was 74 years old...? The first comic was published in 1941. I could never stand Wonder Woman. (and I was only seven by the time the war ended.) But I always felt that the strip was badly written and, certainly, badly drawn. Most superheros had a scientific justification and the whole Greek mythology thing just didn't fit. Even at seven, I knew something was out of place. And there was no hiding the bad drawing, even to a seven year old. Look at the wheels on the Conestoga Wagon below. They are completely out of round. And the airplane! That's the goofiest, most unbelievable airplane ever conceived. .
