I'm in eastern MA, USA.
I have a thermometer that's reading over 100*F today. Faces away from the sun, but might be getting reflected heat from the light colored house.
In any event, it's hot. I know, some people live in the Sahara desert, but only during daylight hours, and they live on the Sun at night so I don't know what "hot" really is but regardless, when I get a headache from the heat, I know it's hot out.
What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen

I don't know how people can handle heat like this all the time. Air conditioning makes me sick after a while. I don't thinks ours has turned off in 24 hours. I can't wait for the fall.

My goodness. That's hotter than it is here in Florida.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Another hot one, but not as dry as last year was. Getting some merciful rain right now cooling the house down. Our a/c runs about 23 hours a day. It gets a few minutes off between 3-5am before it starts all over again. LOL

And I was hiding all day inside, because it's in the 80's out there.....to us, that's 'HOT'.
We had a 90F day last week, but that's not normal. The thought of it going past 100F in a place where humans live, is beyond comprehension to me. You guys are some tough cookies...gotta say.
I'm not going out to the garage (no A/C there) to clean my .22 Marlin Goldenboy, till tonight. I've been popping off red squirrels trying to get at the baby birds, and into our feeders, for the past few weeks. I realized yesterday it was really dirty. Put a bullet in my feeder. I patch them with fiberglass when that "RARELY" happens...lol.... I also shoot the chipmunks who dig holes all over the flower beds, and eat bird eggs. Finally got some ammo (CCI 22shorts 710fps}, real quiet, doesn't bother the birds. Hard to find now, even online. But now the rifle bore is all fouled up, useless till I can clean it.
Can't even go out in this heat for more than a few minutes. I hate it.

Yesterday I worked on the airplane in the hangar. The metal hangar. The metal hangar that faces the sun and away from the wind, so opening the door makes for a fine debate with one's self on which is less likely to make an oven.
The thermometer on the back wall (which is shared with another hangar on the other side) said 125. The humidity was 90%.
Water in, water out.
But hey, it's Alabama in July. It's going to be hot.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

Persistent temperature above 37, along with humidity above 80%, will, quite simply, kill you. The body generates internal heat, and needs to maintain 37 by evaporation. If humidity is too high, and especially if it is high enough that water condenses on your skin, you are not shedding heat, and your temp will rise. If the internal temp sits above 40 for an extended period, various bits of body chemistry start to fail.
If you have to be outside in this, consume liberal amounts of cool liquids. By no means continue in this condition overnight.

You guys that claim to have your A/C running almost 24 hours a day should consider getting more efficient A/C units or checking the ones you currently have. Mine ran for 14 hours yesterday (July 23rd) and we were up to 95 degrees in the Toronto area. And there I was, digging up some old landscaping, planting some new shrubs and moving rocks around. My back is aching. Its sad when you think youre still 18 but your 50 year old body tells you otherwise.

After moaning about the poor English summer so far, after a couple of days of sunshine we are whining: 'It's too 'ot, we don't like it if it's too 'ot...' Newspapers shouting 'IT'S HOTTER THAN FLORIDA IN UK!' Rail lines buckling and other disruptions.

But hey, it's Alabama in July. It's going to be hot. That's our shop at work. A brown metal hangar facing east, so the sun starts warming it up first thing in the morning. The wind comes out of the west, but on most days it switches to a nice cool breeze off the water around noonish. We don't really have enough cross-ventilation to take advantage of it, though. On top of that I can't seem to get the nighttime aircraft fuelers to leave the GD shop doors open at night to let the place cool off, so we get in at 0500 and it's already over 80 in the shop from yesterday's heat. Temps have ranged from the mid 80s to low 90s here over the past couple weeks, but thankfully the humidity has only been brutal for 3 or 4 of those days. Still, whenever I start complaining about the heat I just tell myself to be happy I'm not wearing MOPP2, flak vest, and a CVC helmet inside a tracked vehicle that's got to be 140-150F under the Georgia summer sun.

We replaced our ac about 5 years ago at about $14k. Upgrading from that is about $18k, and it would still be blowing and a waste of money when this is working properly. It is more energy efficient though, the power bill is much lower than it was with the original builder ac. We also set it low at night, so it has a way to go to cool the house to the setting.

Newspapers shouting 'IT'S HOTTER THAN FLORIDA IN UK!' Rail lines buckling and other disruptions. I know, I always chuckle when people tell me how hot it is here. Yeah, it's hot. It's hot often. But it rarely gets THAT hot. Temps over 95F are very unusual, but we'll get a month at 90+. Unlike many other parts of the world, though, we are equipped for it. Central air in homes and schools and workplaces, air in the cars and buses, lots of shade where possible, and of course plenty of pools. The Jedi Master

I'd rather be in -15F than either of those.
