Er...I'm 40-something, so just a bit too old to play Sacha, I'm afraid...I was looking at the pic of me up there and I really look it, too. Shouldn't have had it taken right after work! Bad idea.

Sacha's a senior lieutenant, in her late twenties. She was an advisor to the Ethiopian air force in her first assignment out of flight school (it's in one of the earlier stories I did), in fact.

As for who the potato guy is...I'm like Ranger257th. I've not got a clue!

I love these kind of threads! I knew some of you read those tales but I had no idea so many of you enjoyed them! I'm working on the next one. Just not sure QUITE how to do it. Too busy right now tweaking the mission between aircraft. Love that 1.02.

I can't wait for the next adventure, as for a actress I like the idea of Trinity from Matrix

:) EricJ and I have dovetailed his "Good Evening, Mr. Minister" pilot Alexei Karmarov with Sacha in one story I did. When she was the permanent CQ they were having lunch together. Look for this to be a recurring theme.

I've had questions about her and Vasily, too. I don't think he sees her that way. But I don't know-haven't thought about it. She's probably a little sensitive about letting an in-squad relationship get past a sibling-like friendship.

Professional women are often like that. When I was young, and before I was married, I didn't date co-workers for that same reason. I had a rep as something of a cold fish when I was in the Army, but at least I had respect from most of the guys. Some of the other women I served with weren't so discreet and their reputations suffered as a result.

I don't think Ranger was referring to me...gosh, at least I hope not! One likes to *think* she's well preserved when she gets to my age-whether she is or not-and that's not the best photo ever taken of me. I suppose I should have scanned in a Glamour Shot or something, but the only ones I have I did for hubby and they're five years old. They came out great-had them done in black & white 1940s style!

Aralez-

Merci beaucoup, monsieur! We'll see about the honorable mention.

Rockhpi-

Someone posted a pic of someone they identified as Claire Sweeney, the alleged sweetheart of the R.A.F., in a green flight suit standing in front of a Tornado, holding a grey CVC helmet on one of the message boards a few months ago. Frankly, I thought Sacha would look something like her....

Eric-

Touche. Exactly my point. After I get the next one out, we'll collaborate on that thing we discussed.

You guys are uh, well amazing... Here is one back at ya' ready?
The wife said I shouldn't even bother replying to the out right ignorance of some of you. Thank God Cat had the inteligence to understand what I was asking. Shew, close!
Now let me help you not so 'blessed'...
The one pic is more than obvious to a long time member as myself (Cat - duh) the other pic is still unknown to me. Please try to take for granted that not all posters here are mean spirited, retarded or out right trouble. I really wish you would've read Cat's reply below mine before posting your crap as now she may be in doubt.
Sorry Cat. Yes, I see something of what may appear to be a Potato?? And try to grasp the meaning of that and wingman in the same context lol.

S! Young lady.

No offense intended, therefore none is taken \:\)

It IS a potato something. And I'd bet that it's an oblique reference to something I'd know from Falcon 4 days or something that I'm gonna be embarrassed when he ties it up for us. Tho I can't even remember what it is now!!

Cat,

You mean this?

Well she's definitely good looking but that hair....I doubt Sacha would have time for that in a war zone. ;\)

Spud! Punk's RIO! Now I get it!!

Thunder-

Yes! That's the pic! As for her hair-she could always put it up. I've piled it up and tucked it under a motorcycle helmet more than once. When I was in the Army, I used to just pin it up til I got dropped for pushups too many times 'cos it came unpinned! Then, I got frustrated and went with the Dorothy Hammill look. Didn't let it grow out til I got out of the service.

I always wondered.

How does one get that much hair to fit inside a HGU-55/P (Standard USAF pilot's helmet) or a Russian ZSh-7AP (standard helmet for current frontline Sukhoi and MiG fighters).

Pilots normally wear skull caps (a contoured cotton cap that fits around the head) together with the helmet for comfort and also to soak up perspiration. Presumably, that should keep all your hair in place, but, unless your hair is short shoulder-length, you still need to pin it down otherwise it gets everywhere and that's not a good thing in an aircraft cockpit with your oxy mask, sun visor and a whole lot of other assorted stuff. But if you roll it up and pin it...how easy does that lot fit into a snug helmet ?

I always wondered about that. I have seen pics of female F-16 pilots with their hair tied up, so apparently it is not a problem, but I suppose the USAF and USN mandate a manageable length criteria. Definitely not like Lara Croft in the second sequel when she wore the Russian ZSh-7AP in that 'Hover-Jet' with a long pony-tail hanging out behind. Imagine if it caught onto something during ejection. You'll either be scalped or have your neck broken.
