Hi Lolo Kramp.

I did not want to mention the colours. They looked to me to be a bit bright, unless you used Woolworths household gloss paint.

Sorry Mike! exitstageleft

I think all it needs is just a bit more shading/highlighting of the fuselage mainly.Overlay the texture with a white to black scale drawing and blend app. 25 to 35% masking to the texture. This waill add more depth to the model. A few beauty spots in some brown colors in that overlay and it will be perfect.

Yes Mark, the my LCD screen it's self has settings which would make bright colours look different.

Mike. Try resetting your screen to factory Default settings. If you have changed the screen contrast and/or brightness, that would account for you seeing different colours from the rest of us.

This is what I used...

The specs call for AII Blue and AII Green for 1940-41. The unit that I have photos for was a single color for the uppers.

And, the green-black camo means having a model that has different 3dzs for the wings and fuselage halves.

I'll tone down the undersides but the uppers are accurate...

Iron Mike, the toned down belly's look alot better.

But that color chart is off, Blacks are not black and Brown is red and light brown is grey. You still might need to calibrate your colors on your vid card and monitor. frown

Question about monitor's color calibration.

If you are viewing a color chart bmp on a computer and you match the color in a paint program on the same computer, how is it that the color calibration of the video card or monitor would cause the two images to not match on said computer?

If a second person downloads the posted image of said color chart and the colors do not match the in game colors, then who's monitor or video card is causing the corruption?

If said second person does not like the in game colors and the colors match the downloaded color chart, does said second person need to calibrate video card or monitor?

Please explain who is on drugs and who you feel, due to said drug use, does not know what they are doing.

Color Calibration is what you do when you first get a new monitor or Video Card. There's numerous ways to do it but you first should follow the steps the manufacture suggests. You can search online for the complex answer.

Since many have seen the colors as being off, I believe it can possibly be IM's source image thats off.

It's unclear what drug your using, but I suggest you calibrate when your not high.

Hi Guys,

I have been building model aircraft for 60 years and the more books I get the more I realise that colour is a "grey area"! Yes the blue was a bit vivid for my tastes but the greens are very hard to be sure of. The old White Ensign paints I used for my kits are supposedly quite accurate but their basic topside green is a bit "greyer" than I was expecting, certainly compared with the old "Humbrol Authentic" version I have. However you have to allow for different manufacturers of the paint, and differences between batches even from the same manufacturer, not to mention different ways of mixing and applying in the field, weathering, and logistic problems resulting in non standard paint being used quite often - for example the yellowish green "tractor" paint.

As to calibrating monitors, that seems a good idea - but we cannot calibrate our eyes, so perhaps we all see the colours in slightly different ways - I certainly know people who see green as blue for example. Then, as any modeller will know there is the problem of so called "scale colour" which I won't go into other than saying that the smaller the object the lighter it should be painted to resemble the full scale plane. For example we are told never to use true black, but to use instead a dark grey.

Incidentally I don't think comments about drugs are very helpful.

Pete

Your dealing with memory colours, V "That was what they used", V The model colours are right!, V a million other opinions. biggrin

IMPS are one of the best sources, but even they look a bit bright, but brand new, out of the tin they might have used these colours.

Thanks guys!

Okay, so I've got a CD of old mods from (among others) Flying Tiger- including the flying tigers...how would I go about converting them and adding them into the aircraft directory folder to create that specific planeset? I doubt junior is all that bothered with the map- he just wants to fly with the AVG.
