Hi all,

I've been involved with aircraft restoration and tool-making for some time. Now that I'm QC inspecting structures/avionics (not actually building things with my hands), I'm in the mood to start making stuff again.

My question is, should I continue and fall into this endless pit? smile

Haha. Yeah, I have the feeling it's going to take a looong time. Time will tell if I survive.

Raafspitty thanks for all the help!

Yes, the project is moving along well....and very slowly. I found a metal recycling place that has a great price/lb for aluminum and steel. The aircraft manufacturer I work for scraps there, so there's an added aircraft material bonus.
After years of saving, I picked up a Sherline machining set this year and will be making a kiln next year for casting.

I have been working on some panel stuff. Finished up a trim gauge which can transfer over to most other gauges other than the attitude indicator.

I made a video for someone here describing some spitfire instrument panel switches that are sim friendly (momentary). Describes how they work. You can fast forward to where I'm finalizing the flap lever machining.

I'm welding together a desk/sim version of the spade grip. Will be cutting and sculpting it further with additional features (pic attached).
Figured out an etching process for aluminum that works well. In the other attached pic, the down is upside down. wink But it's an easy fix with sandpaper.

Hoping to do some welding for father's day today.
