I have edited this post as it was the first one in this thread. All of the original text and pictures have been replaced.
The information in the other posts in this thread is way out of date, and should be ignored other than for historical purposes.

150 has been superseded by 160.
Use this link to the 160 multiplayer set-up

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/6tb6c8hka9vts/160Multiplayer

You do not have to play multiplayer with it, but it gives a good range of aircraft and theatres in a single installation. No CD is needed.

There is a file manager included which was written in Visual Basic. You may need to install the Visual Basic runtime files.
[Linked Image]
The two downloads are both 7-zip self-installers.

"160MPInstall.exe" gives you a complete "160MP" folder. It contains my "eaw.ini" file which you may need to modify or replace to suit your system.

"Runtimes.exe" gives you a "Runtimes" folder which contains a "setup.exe". This file needs to be run to install the runtimes files. It is not an EAW installation.
You will know if you need to install the runtimes files if you get an "OCX missing" error when you run "PSM160GRV2.exe" to select the theatre, planeset and eaw.exe that you want to try first.

Right now I'm working on upgrading the Lanc to go along with the bouncing bomb.

It's a big job. Lots of nodes are being added to refine the model, all the props will be independently coded so they function properly.

Also, there lots of misaligned texture mapping issues.

So, all in all, it's going to take a few more days but when it's done it will be a credible enhanced lo-res model. None of those "square wheels" issues.

Assuming that people needing them have downloaded the recent patches the installations available at OneDrive have been deleted, and replaced with a new single download installation:

There is an instructions.txt file which reads as:
To install:
Download and run "UAW150V3.exe"
You will get a full installation, and that should be all you need.
Running this will create a folder named "UAW150V3"

To play EAW:
In the "UAW150V3" folder there is a "PSM150.exe" which is the GUI.
Run this, make your selection and fly EAW150.

*******************************************************************
The other files:
"PSM150.exe" is for people who have the earlier patched installation.
They can download it into their "UAW150V3" folder and use it instead of their previous versions of the GUI.

"Runtimes.exe" needs to be downloaded if your PC does not have the runtile files installed which the "PSM150.exe" needs.
It creates a folder named "Runtimes" with a "setup.exe" in it.
Run "setup.exe" and say "Yes" to everything.

The new GUI does not need the TABCTRL.OCX (which does not install easily on some PCs) and looks like this:

Coming back to this after a looooong break and it's overwhelming- great job!
I've passed the stick to my 8 year old, who is currently in a Spit intercepting Ju-87s over the Continent...

One thing I find was when I selected a ship strike mission and went to loadout it CTD'd. When I flew without loadout, it worked- but I was stuck strafing. Is that normal?

Also- is there any way to 'nerf' things a bit for his skills? I'd like for him to get some intercept practice while he gets the hang of the stick- something simple like bomber formations maybe that he can just jump into in fly? Suggestions welcome...

Last question- he's really into the "Flying Tigers", are they in the game? I flew SPAW and the closest I found was P-40Es. Did the CBI theater get added in?

Thanks for all your hard work!

Jel will come along any time now to hash out the Ship Strike CTD problem. I can't help with that one.

There are many settings to make the game easier. Go to the game setup page and poke around a bit, you'll find what you need in there.

As for the Flying Tigers scenario, unfortunately it was never finished.

However, with the introduction of EAW 1.5 you can build you own set of planes from the hundred's that are available.

So to get something with the flavor of The Flying Tigers you would probably pick SPAW as the scenario but then make a custom set of planes rather than picking one of the premade sets.

You could have a few different P-40's up against Zeros, Oscars, Kates and Bettys.

In fact, you could also mix in a P-26, P-35 and P-36 which were used in the CBI theater too. You can find suitable models of these in the Malta folder. The beauty of 1.5 is that they can be "ported" over to the SPAW scenario with no trouble at all.

As long as you didn't use the carriers as bases you would definitely feel "oriental" with appropriate hangar screens and such.

Download the whole kit and kaboodle. It's pretty straight forward but we'll be here to help if you get stuck.

Oh and congrats for getting the next generation into flight sims. We're all getting a bit long in the tooth around here so it's good to have some young blood.

Thanks Ray, and I'll have to double-check the CTD as I'm sure Jel will want the specific model I used smile2

I don't want to go too far afield on this thread, but I could use some help on adding new planes- I read your and Jel's explanation, so I think I can add a new custom planeset- but how do I add a new skin? That's what I'm confused on.

Speaking of skins, and going waaay far afield now, I got the picpac tutorial years ago and tried my hand at some skins for the Suez Crisis- with the Med map and the custom planesets, I may dust off my dream of a 1956 campaign (or at least some missions).

Oh, sorry, I'm not too good remembering nicknames. Obviously you are NOT a newbie.

Making a custom planeset from planes already in the inventory isn't too difficult. It's really more of a matter of being comfortable with the Windows folder system more than anything else.

Mess around with the planeset maker for a bit and you'll see what I mean.

Adding a plane is a little more complicated but not prohibitively so, no matter what the naysayers would have you believe.

Jel or I can take you through the steps which might actually be a good way for the community to see how it's done.

Just let me know when I should start instructing.

Hi Shadow

Yes, please let me know which combination gave you the CTD.
I need to list some suitable ship strike missions. Players need an aircraft which has a torpedo loadout, and to select the right target, and target type. I know which ones work and host ship strike missions online, but now that EAW150 is gaining momentum more people will need help with things like this smile

I also need to upload "MogProg" to MediaFire. It is a little program that switches slots for aircraft skins, and if you select "lane" as the "plane code" it converts the old skins to 150 format.

In the "EAW150" folder at MediaFire there is latest version of the GUI which lists the aircraft when you select a planeset.
Download the "PSM150.exe" and put it in your "UAW150V3" folder.

I sent you a message at the Gen telling you that the new GUI exe is in your folder smile

Look for "PSM150.exe"

What you do not see is an invisible grid with the full pathnames to the folders referenced. You only see the grid with the folder name.
However, when you select a planeset a routine reads the full path of the first folder referenced in FM column of the invisible grid. The PSM150.exe then checks that there is a "plname.str" file in the folder If so, it reads the "plname.str" file, and displays the aircraft name in the list that you see. Then it moves to the next folder referenced, and so on until the whole set has been listed smile

Ok, got the program. I had a couple of observations that you should look into.

I have worked on it based on your comments

There is room for 100 planesets, if the names are not too long. After that I think that scrolling kicks in wink
Many in my list are experimental and would not appear in a final release.

I will send the "PSM150V2.exe" to your folder, and upload it to MediaFire smile

Got it.

It's a lot better but I have to ask, since you have a big empty space on the right side of the pale green box, why not put the plane list pop up over there so you don't block the theater selection screen?

I wanted a four column list box so that users can make their own planesets and save them. I left plenty of room for new planesets to be added.
It struck me that as the list comes up when a player is loading or checking out planesets, then leaving the planeset box clear and covering up the theatre box was the way to go.

After all the theatre box is just a mouseclick away smile

Update
150 is now out of date, so if you are looking for an installation get the 160 version or the 160MP single install

Hi Tony,

So what exactly do I need to download to run 160 single player - I have not been watching this for a couple of months and am as ever confused, but thought I would give it a try.

Cheers

Pete

Thanks - thought MP was for multi-player which did not sound right when playing solo offline
