Picked up Hard West, an X-COM style TBS game that looks really good. All I know so far is that they claimed controller support and it doesn't seem to be the case.

The Steam Controller is tempting, at $35.

I like my steam controller. I use it more than my xbox controller now. But it isnt a replacement for the xbox. You WILL miss that second analog stick. The touch pad is nice for some games but it wont ever replace that second stick.

Sale seems a bit lukewarm. Most of the titles has been on sale cheaper years ago, and the new games aren't that great either. I think the days of $5 AAA games one year after release have come and gone. I suspect with the success of Denuvo the massive sales will dry up further in the next few years.

Steam controller is a good companion to the Steam Link. Lets you play games that don't have controller support while sitting on the couch.

I picked one up and although it takes a bit to get used to at first, it really shines in playing keyboard+mouse things like XCOM on the couch via Steam Link.

i.e. I still use the XBOX controller for things that support it, but for things that don't, there's usually a Steam Controller profile for it, and the Steam Link supports having both plugged in at the same time.

I've been using Steam Controller + Steam Link to play Guild Wars 2 with my daughters while sitting on the couch, which in the past was a KB+Mouse only thing.

That's what I've heard--good to have alongside a 360 controller, not necessarily replace it. I think that's reasonable. Some games just don't support, or work well, with the 360 controller but some would be ok without an actual mouse too. Now that I have the Steam Link sorted out, I'm enjoying gaming on the tv.

Yeah me too, I actually have a XB1 on this same family room TV, but the framerate/gfx quality of the Steam Link streamed game is often better than the "nextgen" console version, not to mention much cheaper.

Hard West is a lot of fun, btw. Just a few missions in so far, but it's grabbed me a lot more than XCOM did this far. There's a supernatural element coming later too it seems.
