This is a teaser about a new type of EAW set-up that is coming to fruition.
It has been a massive project with major changes to the exe

1. The EAW.exe now allows 100 weapon types (0-99)

2. The SPAW weapons have been appended to the default ones

I have written and used a converter that edited the SPAW loadout files to match the new "weapons.dat" file in one click smile

3. "ordXY.3dz" have been renamed "hrdXY.3dz" in the cases where the 3dz is a hardpoint and not a weapon.
The new exe looks for "hrdXY.3dz" when it loads the hardpoint files.
This has freed up some weaposns slots

At the simplest level the user selects an exe, a theatre, and a planeset from the lists:

Then he clicks "FLY"

wink Jel

At level 2 the user picks the skins and FMs for some aircraft:

The user can stop at any point because a complete 30 plane set is no longer necessary smile

In order to fly the user clicks "Save to SAVEDATA" and then clicks "FLY"

The game runs in the currently selected theatre which in this case was still the Mediterranean one.
It is not saved, but if the player used the option by checking the checkbox it can be saved in the first available planeset folder.
There is no need to select one it is none automatically smile

wink

The download is HERE

First download the "140PSM.exe" 7-zip self installer.
Running it creates a "140PSM" folder but it is not complete.
You need to download the "Aircraft_Inventory.exe" 7-zip and run it in the "140PSM" folder.
As this is a large file it was prudent to make it a separate download.

To play the EAW you need to run the "PSMV2.exe" which is a combination of the DirSetExeManager and the planeset maker.
There is a reasonable chance that just clicking "FLY" will get you in the air wink
After that you can select the exe, a planeset, and a theatre.

More adventurous users can start to make their own planesets and fly them.

The two 140 exes are incompatible with previous installations as they use different weapons files.
There are no planesets in theatre folders. The "PDir.set" and "FMDir.set" files have been moved to folders in a "PlaneSets" folder.
I have provided versions of the ETO theatre with desert and tropical tiles for a bit of variation.

The whole system is designed to let a player use a planeset originally from one theatre in other theatres.
It also lets a player create a quick game using aircraft of his own choice.
The crux of the whole system is that the exe is using "PDir.set" and "FMDir.set" files which are located in the "savedata" folder.

As it is very different from previous 140 systems I am considering making it EAW150 smile

OK Tony got it in have a 140PSM folder in my 1.40 folder and inside that have a Aircraft_Inventory and a bunch of other folders and DSP(2016V3) this is what I assume I need to click on to run the whole thing,,Did that and get the same Dir set screen as before??OK next shot??

OK paid attention to your instructions and ran the PSMV2 instead of dir set and got the error TABCTL32.ocx isn't there I seem to remember that from using your runtimes for OAW I Think

Thanks for trying this Russ.
I cannot guarantee that all possible combinations of planeset and theatre will work perfectly as there are so many possibilities smile

Got that fine Tony now I just need to try out different options I don't know what all the different plane sets are so I'll try theather planset and see what comes out..Did get to fly a American BI plane ovver the deserrt on an escort mission not even sure what I picked.Only one question usually in Dirset I pick theater plane set exit and start it with windower I was thinking if I start your exe with windower and then fly is it still wondwed??

Ok started the exe in windower launched the game and had a jerky mouse so seems I can't use windower in game but managed to setup an A-20 bombing mission in the desert and it flew smooth

Went back in by launching the EAW.exe in windower and it had the same setuup as before...Like what I did before set up Theather planeset in Dir set enter the game set up a mission fly it once exit and window the exe and the mission was there..I get a smooth mouse and higher FPS

I do not need the d3dwindower in Win10 but in Win 7 I would add the both the "eaw.exe" and the "PSMV2.exe" from the "140PSM" folder to the windower.
In order to play I would use the windower to launch the "PSMV2.exe" to make my selections, and then use it again to launch EAW smile

That sounds like a good solution would work when I use the Dir Set picker in stock 1.40.It's something that's been bothering me ,,all the make choices, run,,exit ..run windower,,Run EAW.Thanks T ,,Sadly EAW for me just stutters like hell in Win 10 and I couldn't cure it.

So I go away for three days, come back and THERE'S AN ENTIRELY NEW VERSION OF EAW!

What the hell would happen if I left for two weeks?

I'm D/L'ing now, looks like it will take most of the day.

FWIW, this is so much of a departure from earlier set ups that I do think you should go with 1.5 instead of another 1.4 iteration.

Also, thanks for taking my critiques and suggestions in a positive light. Looks like you've accomplished exactly what I was suggesting.

Re-1.50 I mentioned that at the Gen yesterday but so far I have had no response frown

Because of the use of "ord000.3dz" .... "ord999.3dz" this version is incompatible with previous installations.
I am looking at the possibility of your SPAW ord files having 100 added, and your Meditarranean ones having 200 added, with the Med "weapons.dat" added to the current one which is Default + SPAW.

wink
