There are a host of reasons for thinking this, and if anyone wants my Harvard Graphics file I'll be happy to CC Mail it to them.

When the music in the grocery store is stuff that you like, then you are old. Of course, I enjoy grocery shopping more than I used to, though. biggrin

It's just so hard to find mimeograph ink anywhere, though.

For some reason I was idly looking at socket sets on Ebay tonight. Anything resembling the ones I own and use fell under the heading 'vintage'.

ps I'll see your Harvard Graphics and raise you XTree. smile2

Somehow I've carelessly lost all the discs, including Autoroute, but I can throw in a B drive still sitting pretty on the shelf. I'm not parting with my Walkman WM-BF60 Mega Bass. I still listen to that.

My grocery store plays Tom Jones and Average White Band And Stevie Wonder, etc

I liked that stuff 25 years ago, when I was 19!

Now I can pick up a Ribeye steak, a six pack, and OJ while singing along with 'Cut the cake' or 'Give it to me baby'.

Freakin awesome is what it is.

Nah, nah, nah; you don't know old. When I go in and hear things like Average White Band, I think "I wish they were playing the stuff they used to rather than this new stuff". Your oldies is my new stuff.

That's old.

I grew up with a rotary dial telephone, on a party line. Black and white TV until my senior year in high school. Grew up with no air conditioning (in South Carolina in the summer) until I got married. My first "MP3 player" was a cassette tape. Pong was amazing. So was the Atari 2600. It was work to hand carry $1 work of gas a mile in a 5 gallon gas can, and it wouldn't hold $2 worth.

I remember actually having to get off the couch to change the channel on the TV. Adjusting the vertical view was an art form. I remember my Dad being on the roof with the antenna and us yelling up to him which way to turn it. There was one phone on the wall in the kitchen. The cord was very short. We had a stool next to it that you sat on when you were using it. My Mom and sisters always had it tied up. My parents had a stove in the basement for cooking in the summer. We got our first air conditoning window unit when I was in high school.

I never said that was the oldies. I only said I liked it 25 years ago wink

If your 'new stuff' is like other music I listen to- like Cab Calloway or Django Rheinhardt, you must be listening to tunes on wax!

Unfortunately, my grocery store has not played Robert Johnson or Bill Broonzy or Harold Jenkins (Conway Twitty) or Ella Fitzgerald or Billie Holiday yet.

My kids don't believe for speech class I gave a demo on gun collecting. Carry the gun on the bus in the morning. Put it in my locker all day. Gave speech. Took gun home on bus. Shot no one.

Pretty much every pickup truck in the parking lot had a shot gun in the back window gun rack. Everybody had a pocket knife.

We had encyclopedias and used them. We had three typewriters (non electric). I WAS the remote control for the TV.

Loved the comment about turning the antennae while dad was on the roof. We did that too until we got an electric revolver that clunk, clunk, clunked every degree of turn.

Those were the days, Remember them well. Would go hunting right from school in the fall with my buddies. Always
had our guns with and nobody got shot. One idiot always forgot to wear socks though. He would just go bare foot
and put on his hip waiters to get the ducks. Could not bring the dogs to school though. Look on his face when one
of his boots sprung a leak. Some cold water. Back in a day when gun safety was more a less a right passage for
all student going through school. Even had a few girls in it. Really miss those days. This was the late 70`s
