I have found a simpler way to respond to the numerous and valid requests re- testing skins in 140. A special 140 installation has been made. Note the selected items which are critical to the whole thing The only Dir.set available uses the "Default Test" folder, which has a single planeset. The "Def_Skins" folder has literally the default skins in it plus the Dummy skin in case it is ever needed. Each folder has the default skin files in it, plus a subfolder also with the default skin files in it as a backup. The "SkinTest140.exe" utility allows you to do the following: 1. Select one of the default skin folders as the target (destination) folder 2. Clear any files in it. 3. Select your test folder with your test skins in it as the source folder. 4. Copy the source folder skins into the target folder. That is it. When you run the EAW140 in this folder the aircraft with your test skin will be available for selection and you can fly it to test. Here I cleared the default P51D skin folder, then put one of the 352nd skins in it. Running EAW: If you want to restore the default skins you can use the utility to clear the default folder, navigate to the backup sub-folder, and copy the skins in it back into the default folder. The way I see it is that a modder would choose a slot appropriate for the skin he is testing, and not worry too much about the FM. So a twin engined axix plane would go into a twin engined axis slot such as the Ju88a. I have included the "Flexible PSMaker 2016V5.exe" in the download for people who might feel brave enough to try it. Hence, there is a "Def_FMs" folder. The "140SkinTest.exe" 7-zip of the entire 140 folder is available from the link in my signature. I have also made a folder at the Coders' FTP site named "140SkinTestFolder" which has the "140SkinTest.exe" 7-zip in it. Jel

OK Tony. If I used this tool, I will create a 36meg + zip, for one model, as part of a plane set, which less than 1/2 a meg on WOB. How is that helping? Sandbagger would have to x72 the amount of space just for my stuff. This might be great for you, and Ray, but you need to look at the bigger picture. Thousands of user mods for run of the mill players, none of which stand a chance of being used. I can't see, why you find it easier to churn out even more add on tools to do things, when you could simplify the exe Keep trying.

Absolute garbage. I am sick of your comments made from a position of total ignorance The tool does not create anything. Like OAW it copies and pastes files. They are copied from a modder's folder into a test folder which the 140 exe looks for. The modder can see them in the game. You can actually test your 140 version of the Condor with it, and that is what it is for.

Urban dictionary definition of a troll -
"Being a prick on the internet because you can. Typically unleashing cynical, sarcastic remarks on innocent bystanders because, hey it's the internet so you can."
From Wikipedia -
"A troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement."
So here's deal.
I spoke to one of the moderators at length yesterday about this situation. Basically, according to SimHQ protocol they have a hands off policy when these things crop up. As long as the discussion doesn't descend into profanity or outright threats they will not interfere.
I'm not so sure about that because we've had locked posts, deleted comments and a couple of warnings all happen in a short period of time that indicate a rather short leash.
But let's say that we take their word for it that we are entitled to police the forum ourselves, at least up to a point.
It's clear by now that one of our members of former high stature has fallen to trolling.
Who knows why? It's sad but these things do happen. Maybe real life issues are causing the bad behavior or maybe the behavior isn't new but it was put up with because most of the other member would rather avoid conflict.
The thing is, it's severely impact our ability to move the game forward. Those of us dedicated to developing EAW and taking it to the next level are spending more time refuting false allegations than we are in fruitful discussion.
The only thing I can suggest is a boycott of this member's posts. If we all stop responding to the blatantly false accusations, half truths and outright harassment maybe he will get a clue.
I surely hope so as he was an important member for many years. Always temperamental but very knowledgeable in his selected field of expertise.
Heck, even paranoids have enemies.

I know, I could use it, but this is not about me completely. Remember my very first question was about texture links. You said it was possible to add links, but then we went off on this trip, which was not my plan. All I wanted to know is how to make a drop in download for the Condor. I know what the files are in the 2, 1.40 folders, and then you hit me with a socca punch: In 140 you have no choice. You must use a planeset folder with a "FMDir.set" and a "PDir.set" file in it In those few words you effectively made every 1.2 on download obsolete. Can't you see that? OK, we move on to the latest fix, because it's another tool to use, which we don't need. Every time I look at the game, it becomes even more user unfriendly, and complicated. Sometimes progress is not progress, and I'm glad we have simple old 1.29 to use. Drop in and play.

Thanks Jack. Let me know how it goes. I have a new version that lets you switch between skin and FM folders, but working exactly in the same way. I will upload the real exe but renamed "SkinTest140V3.ex_". You will just need to re-name it again. Good to see that at least some people try
