Since version 3.0 our web shop offers time-based licenses (one, four, twelve months) which do not require a (pysical) CodeMeter stick shipped to your location. Instead, a virtual CodeMeter stick is being installed on your computer, so the license is bound to your machine.
You can download the installation files from our homepage, too, yes.

any chance of a later version russian tank.. like a later version of the T-80.. iam sure the data is there.. or maybe a T-90?

that would open up an Eastern market and more EU sim guys would buy the software ... its a win win

Who knows what the new 4.0 update will bring.
I dont know anymore then anybody else who is not part of the esim team but a playable T-80 has long been on a lot of SB owners wish list. Esim did a good job on the T-72 model. used correctly it can still be very effective try changing the ammo of the T-72 in the mission editor to the BM-42 round far more deadly then the BM-32. I used to run a SB VU that ran as a soviet unit/equipment.
One of the things we used to do is split a platoon of T-80/90 tanks in the editor and replace one tank with a T-72 your wing men will Be in the later ride. and you can still engage targets.

If your a newbie to SB, I recommend you check out the starter pack put together for newbies

Maybe you know more than I do. Feel free to contact me and pass it along. smile

We could of course fake a tank and maybe get it, like, 40...60% right.
But we're rather reluctant to do so. As long as there are other interesting vehicles where we can actually come up with an accurate model we will prefer doing that.
I won't rule out that one day we might give it a shot IF the target vehicle is interesting and if there's just no other way to get something suitable in our lifetimes. But in that case we will clearly announce it as "highly speculative and probably inaccurate".

Let's not forget, our main focus is the application of our software in actual crew training. Admittedly, the Personal Edition doesn't focus on that aspect, so it's somewhat closer to being "a game" than the classroom version. As a result, we're adding things to Steel Beasts for users of the Personal Edition where our army customers would not care at all, like a playable T-72 for example. If we get a chance to add a playable tank with its entire fire control system, we usually grab that chance - but we can work on it only "between jobs", that is, when we're not occupied by other development contracts, or internal development work that we deem necessary for keeping the product viable in the long run (e.g. the new terrain engine that we've been working on since 2014).

the T-80U in SB is pretty much one of the latest T-80s the russians made. there's only 1 later russian T-80, the T-80UA, and the main difference is thermal sight for gunner and replacement of IR searchlight with 1 extra ERA brick.
other than that it's exactly the same. however, the UA was never fielded in large numbers, i believe they fielded about 100 or so T-80UA before it production was cancelled in favour of T-90.

SB comes in 3 variations.

"SB2" "SB pro PE" and "SB pro".
"public" "pub/mil" "military"

Maybe, one day. Until then you have various T-72s, which, if equipped with modern ammunition, can be quite potent adversaries. All right, so they have a glass chin, and the fire control system isn't the latest and greatest. Which only means you need to get better with your tactics, and choose your engagements more carefully.

The T-72 should not be used the same way as a say a leo-2/M1A2
The soviets designed the tank to be massed and fast, the tactic is used overwhelm your opponent.
Use a 3 to 1 ratio for cold war type scenario. The frontal Armour especially around the turret of the T-72B is pretty tough compared to the M/M1 variant.
