Hi All,

Hope those of you in the States are enjoying a great Memorial Day. After leaning out my own collection I thought of something I wanted to ask my fellow pilots. What do you play when you're not playing WOFF?

My list includes other flight sims like IL-2 1946. There's a great and simple new addon called the vpmodpack that brings the sim nicely up to 2016 standards without a lot of fuss. I also have the old Strike Fighters series for the few times I get in the mood to fly jets and since I'll never have the patience to learn Falcon 4.0, they serve me well.

I also spend a lot of time racing: so on PC I have GTR2, the Power & Glory Mod for some 1960s and 70s era sports car racing, rFactor with three mods installed (including the Enduracers series so I can drive Le Mans), and Race07/GTR Evolution.

Lastly I have Battlefield 4 and Bad Company 2 and a handful of great Total War games like Medieval II and Empire and Napoleon.

Over on my consoles I'm playing Star Wars Battlefront and I spend an inordinate amount of time digging into the F1 series from Codemasters and Project Cars.

How about you guys? What are you playing during these hot summer days?

Cheers!
cheers

I don't play much at all recently.

Apart from occasional WOFFing, I like online action in one of the servers for RoF.

A new game I will buy this week, is NAVAL ACTION - a sim where you fight for bigger ships
and other goods in the Caribian Sea in the 18th century. Naval battles with sailing ships.
You can try it alone, or you join a group - or sail as a pirate, against anyone else.

I have deleted Bos and Il2-clod. The only games I do play are Woff3 and Rof. Yep l'm WW1 flysim fan.
I most admit I do like the idea of 60/70 racing cars like the Ford GT40 and the Porsche 917 or the F1 before the spoilers.

reading mmmmmmmmm, other games then my daily WOFF experience ? Cliffs of Dover and Fortress Italy, and Naval Action maybe weekly. Battle of Britain II and ROF rarely along with Slient Hunter IV. Dream list: would include updated, Silent Hunter III, The Mighty 8th, along with Squad Leader and Falcon 4. Of course, an inexpensive Steel Beast or Tank game would be nice.

Olham: Naval Action is cool except when sailing a long distance. Fleet Battle are a lot of fun unless u are in a smaller ship then its more u are a target. Have Fun!

CaptSopwith, I'm currently engrossed in Stellaris when I'm not playing WOFF. The only other games that I have on my PC are Fallout 4 and XCOM 2. Like you, I try a keep very few games on my PC.

I like the idea of a sailing ship sim, I'll have to check out naval sim.

Otherwise the only sim I play are aerial. WOFF 1 is where I'm at, at present. But I can see I will have to update to 3.

Other than that I still regularly fly (as in once a week) RB3D, EAW, MiG Alley and BoB II. Old games, but great. smile

At the moment, like Banjoman I'm engrossed in Stellaris by Paradox Interactive. I also enjoy their Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings series.

Out of the Park Baseball and Kerbal Space Program have more or less permanent homes on my drive.

It's pretty much just WOFF for the past two years, but I have played some Tigers on the Hunt, a little BoBII, and very occasionally some old Talonsoft Civil War or Napoleonic games or some of the Total War series.

At times I can get heavily into racing sims, like a massively modded Grand Prix Legends and GTR2.

I'm long overdue for indulging an old Silent Hunter III obsession.

XCOM2 for a while - looks super but there's too many thinks I personally don't like. I really dislike the oversimplified and hidden way it handles "action points" and then throws in a million bonuses to compensate. Also very annoying how it seems to provide instant tough enemies thhe moment you get a new gun or armour. The other thing is often there's a cool map/mission but they give you literally minimum time "rounds" to get the job done which forces you to rush into obvious battle and die a lot wink.

Recently I found Wastleland 2 (Directors Cut version). Basically seems XCOM2 was inspired by the movement and cover system from this and the way it highlights you can move so far and still fire, or move fully and not. However Wasteland is far more absorbing game much more granular and you can tell the Developer added plenty of love into it - lots of twists and funny bits too. Need to manage ammo and weapon types - good challenges with some surprising alternative ways through. Action points are there so you can plan a little better.

If you like XCom (and especially the old original XCOM) it may be something you like more.

Recent games which really impressed me are the new Doom and Dirt Rally.
I also play Elder Scrolls Online occasionally behindcouch , I hate its MMO aspect though and just play it as a singleplayer game.

ROF, CLOD, BOS/BOM, FSX w/ A2A planes, WOP, WOV, IL2 1946, WT, TS2016, B-17 Mighty Eighth, SH4, SH5, DCS, Scratches, RON, AOM, AOEI/II/III/, Dawn of Discovery, and a zillion things on Steam. Obviously, most of these are in a very long, elliptical orbit and aren't often visible with the naked eye.

Pol, I agree completely with your assessment of XCOM 2, as a matter of fact, I had to mod the whole Time Units thing to make it playable for me. You are also right about Wasteland 2, very enjoyable game. I would suggest that if you like the genre of XCOM you should try Xenonauts. It was created by a small indie developer and it is truer to the original in gameplay.

Dutch, if you're interested in some great 60's and 70s' racing, there is a fantastic mod for GTR2 called Power & Glory. It includes a few hundred cards, from Ford Mustangs and GT40s to Ferrari's and Porsche 906's and later 911's. Great stuff with a wide array of cars to choose from and with some downloading, some excellent tracks! Here's the link to their site http://www.gtlw.co.uk/
