For some reason, I can't see Photobucket pics using Opera. Update says I have the latest version. I can see the images using IE, Chrome and AOL, but when I attempt to reply to this post in any of those my computer goes wacky. I have typed a reply here 5 times and something or another has caused a crash. So, for now I will read and reply via Opera and look at pics I can't see with IE.
As for the pic I posted, before life took me away from EAW I was working on getting the cockpits upgraded to the 1024x768 size. They are still in the original size. This is the Hi Res cockpit for the Mossie. If you look closely at the airspeed and attitude gauges, you will see the needles for all the gauges. The Cockpit Editor was never upgraded to the larder format; I couldn't find that bit of code to do so...
Perhaps these days I can try to find the time, always bugged me I never finished it. I still have my old rig with the software and code on it...

Moving the needles around the way we did in the old days, through changing values in the cdf files, works. But it's very fiddly, whereas in the Cockpit Editor it's click and drag to place and size the needles. The problem is the cockpit editor uses the original 2D images of the panels, not the 3D. When using the 3D cockpit, the associated file redraws the needle in the correct place, which in the original files was easy - but in custom cockpits they are all over the place.
Then when you have the needles placed, they are extremely thin and hard to see. I think they really need to be turned into sprites rather than drawing a line. I'll have to fire up my other computer and take a look see, been a long time !
So in short, the 3dz files of the cockpit work as you describe, but the needles don't follow suit...
