Colonel Sanders original recipe fried chicken is not as good as I remembered from when I was a kid.
The skin is dry and crispy now as if it was baked in large quantity instead of cooked in a pressure cooker pot in small patches. That is the inevitable result when any franchise expands to such a great scale that the quality drops due to the necessity of having to produce the food in large quantities. The same thing happened with Starbucks as well. The overall quality of the coffee declined as the company expanded more and more across the US and other countries.

I agree Panzer. I remember always looking forward to the occasional trip to KFC as a kid and the skin was the best part of the original recipe. Back then they only had original recipe and then later came out with the extra crispy. They didn't do anything else: no sandwiches, no nuggets, no pot pies, no chicken bowls, no potato wedges (French Fries) etc. I always ask Dad and Mom to get me a couple of pieces, leg and thigh, with mashed potatoes, corn slaw and the entire corn on the cob. Every now and then we get a special treat and it was the KFC Lil' Bucket Strawberry Shortcake Parfait Cup. http://flapjam.blogspot.com/2013/08/why-did-they-kick-bucket.htmlhttp://www.ocweekly.com/restaurants/five...esserts-6607445I just looked at the KFC menu online and they no longer have the corn on the cob and the Parfait Cup. They have a brownie cake that from the look of it, it's definitely made and prepackaged elsewhere and it looks very poor quality.

Ithey no longer have the corn on the cob Yeah, they got rid of that back during the late 1990's. They still have corn available as a side but it's only the "canned corn" version.

I can get that at home. Same for their green beans, out of a can and salty as hell, totally inedible. Even their mashed potatoes tastes like it's made from dry potato flakes. I haven't gone to KFC in a long long time as in 3 years. The KFC here are KFC Taco Bell or KFC Pizza Hut. If you go to the KFC Taco Bell, the menu on the wall has easily 100 or more items for both brands. When they have that many items, nothing comes out right (or edible). When I want GOOD fried chicken nowadays, I go to Popeye's! But when I want REALLY GOOD fried chicken nowadays, I go here or to one of their other locations: http://www.babeschicken.com/our-kitchens/carrollton/

When I want GOOD fried chicken nowadays, I go to Popeye's! Same here. For fast food fried chicken you really can't get any better than Popeye's IMHO.

Edited my last post when you were replying, Panzer. My BAD! Co-worker told me once about this place for fried chicken. http://sissyssouthernkitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Sissys_Menu_2015.pdfI have never been to it and I won't. Look at the menu! $12 for 2 pieces of chicken with mashed potatoes and cole slaw and 25 min estimated wait time during peak business hour. I did a GOOGLE search on this restaurant and D (Dallas) magazine named it one of the top 5 best fried chicken in Dallas Fort Worth. $12? Couldn't be that good to be worth $12.

Apparently a lot of people in Dallas thinks it is since the place is still in business and they've received rave reviews. I wouldn't spend that much though because lunch during the work week for me needs to be no-frills, cheap and fast. I wait until the weekend to spend money on better food.
