https://blog.vellumatlanta.com/2016/05/04/apple-stole-my-music-no-seriously/The software is functioning as intended, said Amber. Wait, I asked, so its supposed to delete my personal files from my internal hard drive without asking my permission? Yes, she replied.
I had just explained to Amber that 122 GB of music files were missing from my laptop. Id already visited the online forum, I said, and they were no help. Although several people had described problems similar to mine, they were all dismissed by condescending gurus who simply said that we had mislocated our files (I had the free drive space to prove that wasnt the case) or that we must have accidentally deleted the files ourselves (we hadnt). Amber explained that I should blow off these dismissive solutions offered online because Apple employees dont officially use the forumsevidently, that honor is reserved for lost, frustrated people like me, and (at least in this case) know-it-alls who would rather believe we were incompetent, or lying, than face the ugly truth that Apple has vastly overstepped its boundaries.
What Amber explained was exactly what Id feared: through the Apple Music subscription, which I had, Apple now deletes files from its users computers. When I signed up for Apple Music, iTunes evaluated my massive collection of Mp3s and WAV files, scanned Apples database for what it considered matches, then removed the original files from my internal hard drive. REMOVED them. Deleted. If Apple Music saw a file it didnt recognizewhich came up often, since Im a freelance composer and have many music files that I created myselfit would then download it to Apples database, delete it from my hard drive, and serve it back to me when I wanted to listen, just like it would with my other music files it had deleted. How is it possible that Apple hasn't been sued yet? Simple: If youre wondering why Apple hasnt been sued yet, its because the iTunes Terms of Use vaguely warn of this issue, then later indemnify Apple and preclude any litigation from users whove been boned:
iCloud Music Library is turned on automatically when you set up your Apple Music SubscriptionWhen your Apple Music Subscription term ends, you will lose access to any songs stored in your iCloud Music Library.
YOU EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APPLE MUSIC SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. THE APPLE MUSIC SERVICE AND ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES DELIVERED TO YOU THROUGH THE APPLE MUSIC SERVICE ARE (EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY STATED BY APPLE) PROVIDED AS IS AND AS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR USE, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
IN NO CASE SHALL APPLE, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APPLE MUSIC SERVICE OR FOR ANY OTHER CLAIM RELATED IN ANY WAY TO YOUR USE OF THE APPLE MUSIC SERVICE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN ANY CONTENT OR APPLE MUSIC PRODUCTS, OR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND INCURRED AS A RESULT OF THE USE OF ANY CONTENT OR APPLE MUSIC PRODUCTS POSTED, TRANSMITTED, OR OTHERWISE MADE AVAILABLE VIA THE APPLE MUSIC SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. So there it is, legalized theft, plain and simple. Gonna have to start taking much more attention to the EULA before signing up for anything from now on.

You know, I was kinda waiting for this day. It was bound to happen, eventually. These corporate hacks have lost ALL respect for IT systems integrity, data integrity, customer privacy, or whatever IT professionals of the past might consider "holy".
And why should they respect "customers" who demonstrate - particularly in the case of Apple - that they are a weird mixture of consumerists and cultists who uncritically lap up whatever the marketing and sales department of a giant multinational corporation declares as the latest cool thing, and LITERALLY stand in line to enter the gilded cage.
I only hope we see more of this openly sociopathic corporate executive behavior so people finally realize what kind of freedoms they really abandon when subscribing to these "walled software gardens". Apple's and Google's and Facebook's view of their users are one of an exploitable resource. You aren't customers. You are the goods that they sell to their real business partners. Yes, cattle gets "free food", shelter, and protection from the predatorial wildlife - as long as it produces milk, and eventually enters the cattle train towards the sesame bun.
I should rather stop. This will quickly turn into PWEC material.

I heart Apple.; (But I do own a lot of the stock).
Sent from my iPad.
All your music are belong to us
Resistance is futile.
We will add your distinctiveness to our own and together we will grow as one.
Come to think of it, isn't it Apple building some big cube like building?
Seriously though I love Apple Music. It's great for our family.

"For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Matthew 5:11
Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because “the Lord is compassionate and merciful. James 5:11

. Really rough times right now to own their stock but I'm sure it will recover eventually.

As an IT Pro, the first thing I do when installing or using ANY software is to turn off auto-update anything and never subscribe to any software services.
This has saved my arse more times than I can count.

I trust Apple less than I would Microsoft, and that's saying something. didn't apple nearly go under a number of years ago, and Microsoft balled that out, so Microsoft is a majority stake holder, (plus 51%) so this is the same company no?
