Are you trying to say that because I don't like that religious/transcendence crap of the reimagined BSG that I'm not an adult?
You totally misread my post. The new BSG dealt with adult themes but that does not mean that those adult themes would appeal to everyone. For example, "Schindler's List" deals with very serious adult themes too but the movie is still NOT everyone's cup of tea. Get it?

I liked the original when it aired, and I liked the remake when it aired, but I don't think I'd much care for the original now. I've had zero desire to watch it again, but I have watched the new series several times end-to-end.

I watched the 2 hour pilot of the original BSG a few years ago and I admit that it was not as cheesy as I thought it would be. It still had that air of 1970's innocence and campiness that IMHO would not work today if this new upcoming film were to try and emulate that. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I remember it not being completely watered down. There was a little of the "leaving people behind" part of it, and a few other scenes that were a little more harsh (Rick Springfield getting killed, the insect race cocooning people, etc.). Later in the series, there were some cheesier episodes, but also some decent ones, and it went into the religious realm with Patrick McNee basically playing satan, although I wasn't interested in that as much. I think most of the issues making it less interesting to modern audiences are due to it being made in the '70s (very few '70s shows would be that interesting today), and the budget/SFX abilities. The budget and SFX limited what they could show, and in turn limited the stories they could tell. A decent budget with modern effects could help tremendously, and just not making it with a '70s sensibility could go a long way to making it a good movie without it having to be quite as dark as the SyFy BSG series.

"Space Above & Beyond" and "Firefly" for the win! "Castle" will be ending its run soon so Nathan Fillion should be available!

The problem with bringing back ensemble cast shows is they tend to get schedules that won't allow it aside from perhaps a film.

When I first saw the 2004 BSG miniseries, I... was disapointed. Seemed like some civies were writing a military movie with not a frakin clue about how militaries actually work... or how military discipline works. When no show materialised, I thought "well, I guess that the end of that".
But then "33" showed up with little warning, and I became a fan.
So over the past year or so I watched Caprica, then BSG 78, and then BSG new.
Caprica, though having some good stuff in there, seemed to have too much "filler". When there was real drama or real action, it was good, but too much of mopey people crying or being sullen.
BSG'78 starts off really quite well. You get hints of just how bad it was, but its quickly glossed over so as to not scare the kiddies. Gramps and Grams, well they endured WW2 not that many years before, they could fill in the blanks.
Then, after about the first really good 8 to 12 episodes, the story quality starts a slow fall... by the end of the series you wonder why you hung on so long. But you do.
And then you see the excretable "Galactica 1980"... which never should have aired, never should have been filmed, never should have been greenlit, and not even gotten a final draft for the script. Its THAT BAD. Just don't even bother. The special effects are, despite being after BSG, actually WAY WORSE!
However, the very last episode, bundled into "1980", is actually a BSG78 episode that didnt air properly, in which Starbuck crashes on a planet with a Cylon crash, and he patches it up to fly home. That episode was good enough they remade it for the BSG2004 series.
BSG2004 series was really quite good, but watching it again recently, I see how, in a VERY dark show, there were a few episodes that went so deep and dark, that it would not surprise me if it turned off a lot of audience members from finishing the series. There's a point where it feels less like a tv show and more like a grind marathon... sort of. And yet to me the payoffs are worth it. Make sure to include the movies too, like BSG Razor, at the correct time in viewing (can't recall, mby between season 2 and 3?) If I have to fault all of the series, there are too many coincidences to be plausible, the timelines between series and its histories do not line up well at all, basically between that and the time loop, its a giant mess that doesn't really work. But fortunately its entertainment, not history!

IMHO, this proposed BSG film will be a colossal waste of time and effort. Sorry but people will forever associate BSG with the reboot cast simply because of how utterly awesome it was.
I watched the 1978 BSG 2 hour pilot a few years ago and while it wasn't horrible the biggest problem I had with it was the psychological inconsistency and disconnect. So 99% of your civilization was just recently wiped out and now a few hours later you are on some casino planet having a jolly time with your buddies? Get out of here.

It went too Star Trek (TNG also did a casino planet episode, it was very forgettable and low budget, thankfully later seasons were far better), which is ironic considering the show was trying to ride the SW hype wave.
As for remembering the 2004 BSG, by the time this hits theaters I'm not sure how many people will remember the 2004 version existed. It was never seen by more than a few million people at its peak, and its nadir was barely clearing a million viewers. If it was coming out 5 years ago, I'd say no, too soon. This new one can't be out before 2017 if not later, so while SW will again be in the public eye BSG will have been forgotten for the most part.

It will be nice to see an updated BSG that doesn't go the "they look like us now" route and minus religion and politics taking over the show. At least I hope that's the case.

Well, it's going to be a 2 hour film (give or take a few minutes) so they can only do so much but remember that the original BSG had a religious aspect to it as well. The LDS/Mormon links are unmistakable.
There really won't be time for politics as I think this will be a 2 hour sci-fi action ride akin to the JJ rebooted Star Trek.
