Tony.

Do you know what Run time Error 11, Division by Zero, in 3dz Studio is?

And what's this all about?

I've tested my RAM and it's fine.

This started yesterday evening without warning.

Any ideas?

Many division routines occur, but it is mathematically impossible to divide by zero.

1/ 0.1 = 10
1/ 0.01 = 100
1/ 0.0000001 = 1000000

As the denominator gets smaller the quotient gets bigger, and theoretically 1/0 = infinity which cannot be stored in any way shape or form in computer memory.

If you have a line such as c = a/b then the program will crash if the variable b ever equals zero.
Sometimes it happens.
Running in source code should produce the error but tell you which line it occurs in, and then you can see which denominator has become zero wink

Run the code files, and the error is worse!

I'm only seeing bits of a 3dz, not the whole model.

I got a run time error 9, but everything locked up. so I had to Ctrl Alt Del, to return to Windows.

Going to try Safe mode. I've already removed the RAM and cleaned the contacts, and tested it. Everything else is working fine.

This is effecting all the Studios I have. new and old.

Studio works fine in Safe Mode, so it a Windows error, not the Studio.

I'll try a system restore to the 28th of April, and see if that fixes it.

Is it the model, or does the error happen irrespective of which model you load?
If it is the model then run your Visual Basic source code to see which routine the problem occurs in.

Every model is effected, but in safe mode it's fine, so it's one of those annoying Windows errors.

Hi Mark.

I tested it with Memtest86. No errors found, but to be safe, I took the RAW out and cleaned the contact strips, which made no difference.

I've done this in the past it's a step up from safe mode. I enable things a bit at a time to track down the culprit

Tried the first two suggestions. but no forward.

I've re installed VB6 Runtime files, which has speed ed up the launch of 3dz Studio, but not the errors.

I've been trying all sorts of fixes, but with no luck.

What ever this is, it's limited to just 3dz Studio. All my other programs, and EAW, are uninfected.

I've installed new Run Time files, so what is left to try?

Still works fine in Safe Mode!
