High over the Front
Been using W10 for about a month and half now and everything is working fine. Did use the two aftermarket freeware programs though to remove the installed "apps" (like Cortana) and the tracking stuff.

Anyway things are reportedly even better with a "clean install" of W10 however I am presented with the choices of basically a whole computer wipe or "keep my files" and just replace W10. Naturally I chose the latter option of keeping MY files and programs.
The issue is that even with this option the clean install process provides a list of programs I will have to reinstall - and the list is basically everything I have installed even WOFF.
Is this correct? Presumably because the Windows registry is wiped during the clean install?

Better in the long run to avoid problems is to wipe the HD and install W10 on a clean drive then re-install all your programs.

*Sigh*
You are probably correct just not looking forward to the reinstall.
Not that I have a whole lot but just enough to be a pain in the arse.
Guess I'll save all that for a rainy day...

I would rather have 12 rootcanals than do that!

I have been thinking about "going for" Win10 buy clicking on the "magic blue box" --- But NOT NOW!

If at some time, Win10 is what we have to do ---- so be it. But I am blocking Win10 "crap" from installing
for some time now and will do so from here on.

Yea I thought the same and gave it a shot fully prepared to roll back to W7 but found it worked fine and (though Panama Red says it's my imagination) I swear WOFF looks better in the light, color, and shadow departments.
And in regards to the "also crap" that is installed (worthless apps and history tracking) they are easily removed with a couple small freeware programs.
Additionally since the end of W7 support is not that far off I figured I would join the herd and get used to it.

I have one PC that has Win10 (as a test) and it does not do any better than my Win7 PC's when it comes to WOFF. In fact it have one particular problem that I do not have on my Win7 PC's and that is Windows Defender. Unless you find a way to turn off Win10's Defender Real Time Protection, it can cause stutters in WOFF.

I eventually solved that problem by "exempting" the main WOFF folders from Defender and now the game plays smoothly again, but no better than Win7 PC's.

Yes initially WOFF stutters were an issue on W10. Course they were on W7 at first too until you tweak some things.
As for Windows Defender thanks for the reminder of exempting WOFF.
Currently using AVG and the presence of any aftermarket AV shuts Defender off but on the clean install I will use your idea for Defender.

As for an improvement in WOFF performance I also did not see a FPS improvement but still think my graphics look nicer.
I will (hopefully) guess that as W10 develops better FPS in WOFF will occur - not that I have any issues with my current rate but with WOFF 3 coming every little bit may help.
