I saw that over the weekend. I don't know anything about his politics but I have to like the guy.

He is Canada's Obama but worse.

To me it looks like a set-up PR stunt to make him look smart. I wouldn't be surprised to learn if the "reporter" belonged to his own staff.

No they elected his Party and then he was chosen as PM from among the members of his Party. It's called a Parliamentary system.

And yeah, confusing "decimal" and "decibel" is pretty sad. How can a supposedly educated person make that glaring mistake?

He was chosen first as the leader of the Liberal Party. He was chosen leader by the delegates of the Liberal Party at a convention.

I must admit that I usually lean more to the left (than to the right) side of the political spectrum and being a Canadian born citizen I should be "happy" that Liberal Party which has Justin Trudeau as the leader won the last federal elections in Canada.
However Justin Trudeau is such a douchebag!

Actually seeing the media supporting a political leader/part/side is something that also has been happening here in Portugal (where I live) where the media clearly supported the political parties that were in the last government and now that those parties weren't able to form a new government after the last election (also in last October) and thus are now in the opposition the media now clearly supports this opposition!
It's a shame that such similar situation also (and clearly) happens in Canada as well (or resuming it happens in both "my countries").
I don't want to turn this into a political debate and what I'm trying to say or what I'm criticizing here is the unfortunate role of the media nowadays which clearly tries to manipulate the public's opinion when they should be neutral and never take/support any sides (and just report the fact objectively, nothing more nothing less)!

There is no such thing as "unbiased" media/news but there should be. IMHO, a lot of it has to do with the fact that the profession itself (journalism) tends to attract mostly people who are on the Left side of the political spectrum. As to why that is the case, that's a whole other discussion.

For my part I have absolutely no desire to turn this into a PWEC thread/discussion.

My point was to criticize the media and how currently media "likes" to twist facts (namely on politics but not only). Is criticizing the media a PWEC subject? If yes, please forgive me.




That depends on the country PanzerMeyer.
Here in Portugal, the vast majority of the media and all major TV networks are controlled by the Right side of the political spectrum.

The media should be unbiased, I absolutely agree with that.

When the media became more interested in making big bucks as purveyors of entertainment as opposed to delivering a service to the community, it became a case of picking a choir and then preaching to it. People have become comfortable with having the news presented to them with their bias preset, as opposed to just hearing what happened and then having to apply the spin to it themselves.

The fact that I know many people who have the news turned on more than 2/3 of the time their TV is on proves this has worked, to the detriment of actually delivering news to people.

Interesting point ricnunues. I have never in over 60 years seen an unbiased media in this part of the world. And my late father always talked about how biased the competing newspapers were in his day. Media outlets have either been puppets of one side or the other and we had to try to figure out something close to the truth by reading and interpreting as best we could. In your part of the world, the right currently has control and over here the left currently has control.
