Did the Swiss ever shoot anyone down? I know the USAAF bombed Zurich in broad daylight by mistake! My mother was there at the time, and she told me about it.

Got back from Switzerland via Lyon last night This morning I did some more work on the 640x480 version of 1.29 In the screenie the BlenheimIV is Republican. That was a test because I borrowed the "N00NAME.STR" file from SAW to test that the V12 exe that I made exe is using the "NxyNAME.str" files with the nation value in planes.dat set to 35. It is located in your "Moggy's Euro 129 640" theatre folder. Earlier in the day I modified a 140 utility to block convert all the split "PLANExy.dat" files to make the nation value = 35. The nation value is the old "radius" which is no longer used as a radius value and has not been for several years. It means that you can now use "NxyNAME.str" files for your planesets. I just 7-zipped my complete working folder and there is a "Mog640129V2.exe" in your folder.

Did the Swiss ever shoot anyone down? I know the USAAF bombed Zurich in broad daylight by mistake! My mother was there at the time, and she told me about it. There were a number of quite serious dogfights with the Luftwaffe in May/June 1940. The Swiss objected to them taking a short cut. Herman Goering objected to the "goat-herders" shooting at his planes and so deliberately sent more across en masse to provoke a fight. The Swiss came out of it quite well with their Bf109s and enhanced MS406s shooting down a number of German fighters and bombers. Later in the war they took exception to US bombers taking the same short cut and brought some of them down as well. As for the USAAC bombing Switzerland, they did, and quite possibly as the Swiss were supplying strategic war materials to Germany it may well be that some of the raids were not completely accidental.

Moggy.
I wonder how many of the ditched USAAF bombers, which ended up in Swiss lakes, are still there?
I know loads were recovered, post war, but I bet they did not get all of them. Probably right. You get the impression it's a matter neither country wants to reopen. Never know what might spill out.

Yes Moggy, you don't mention the Nazi Gold, or other things they don't talk about. If my uncle was still alive, I could have asked him, as he bought De Havilland Vampire's & Hawker Hunters, in the late 50's 60's for the Swiss Air Force, and later the license to build their own. He was minister of defense procurement, late 50's to 70's, so he would have knew everything! He died of Cancer in 1981.

Not a particularly unusual screenshot, but interesting because I took it last night flying a mosquito campaign mission in Paulo Morais "1942 Turning Point in Europe" scenario, the one with all those mid war aircraft with FM and guns modelled closely by Paulo, but at the moment rather old 3dz models. I put it in what Jel has now called a "crude" planeset under my 128C-2016 setup. One of my favourite campaigns for sure, loved the scenario where planes are evolving but are not still the late war brutes, and the war was still undecided. Thanks for sharing the pic, will love to see more of that campaign.
