Do they mention (roughly) how far out the gazelle is? Really looking forward to this one!
Also, what are they asking us to pay for? A new map?

Looks like Starway (check out his Northern Europe textures mod) is doing a full overhaul of the Black Sea map textures, including buildings. His work will be released as a paid DLC.

Damn you are right not much left .... like even a link to what was being discussed
Any chance of a link to the video in question ?
Ferengi Rule of acquisition #1 Once you have their money ... never give it back.
Video doesn't do the sim justice at 720p, I hope the 1080p one comes up soon.
After a brief look, part of me is excited about the Gazelle if nothing but a non-Russian helo, but then the other part of me brings up the usual DCS arguments so in the end the whole of me decides to adopt wait-and-see approach. 'Tis such a pity, really. If DCS isn't acting as it is now, rewind back 4-5 years ago, I'd have pre-ordered this and even the Mirage modules.
My list of helos I'm interested in is pretty much a list of popular helos that is also being ignored by DCS. No AH-1W/Z, no AH-64, no Mi-24, no Mi-28. You can make whatever disclaimers you wish about various difficulties in making them, that's fine, but those are the ones I'd buy if they were made.
Other helos, if they appeal to you, great, but I really have no interest in most of these others. I'm not going to buy one of these as a substitute for one I am interested in, and my days of "supporting the hobby" by buying things I'm not going to use are over. I'll just keep flying the Ka-50 forever I guess.

I really like the new textures! Model is really nice but I simply don't have enough hours in a day to learn all the modules I want. I hope the module will sell like hot cakes anyway. All the best.

Yeah... I'd love to see the Apache in DCS! The Gazelle and the Bo-105 is definately not mainstream choices. I think a big deciding factor is what aircraft/helo do you know, or have access to detailed info about. I mean, it must be pretty challenging creating modules for DCS with such deep and detailed systems modelling, if you don't have technical manuals.
The information and technical manuals are available to the public, getting approval to reproduce the information in the manuals into a working flight system\weapons system available to the public is the costly issue. I don't know how ED sign agreements with the companies who produce the aircraft such as Boeing, General Dynamic etc VEAO's "up the tree" once stated the holdup with the release of the hawk was that he needed a contract signed off with BAE to reproduce the systems and what he could and couldn't release to the public.
If that is the same case for all the aircraft in the sim, I doubt we would see a functioning Apache any time soon. Probably why BST are not doing a W\Z model cobra but instead a 60's\70\s era cobra.
Links for those who are interested in the AH64A\D flight manuals
There are other manuals declassified available at public intelligence and is a quality source for information.
The Gazelle itself looks like a quality aircraft, I would like to see more choppers in the sim, particularly some Russian models like the Hind. If a developer implements a UH-60 I'd be happy.
Cool link! Didn't know that. But I guess the problem is that module developers go with aircraft/helos they know and/or have a personal relationship to. That's why we see the somewhat strange diversity of modules for DCS. Module devs don't seem to go with commercially viable choices.
I guess that's understandable if the community is calling for "as real as possible or bust". However I would think there is still some market for FC3 aircraft with a believable PFM (deal breaker for me personally). I know I'd love a f-117, b-1 or growler that could perform their respective missions even if some "liberties & educated guesses" had to made.
I love spending hours learning the systems of the various DCS aircraft. It's my favorite part of the sim, so if I'm way off calling for more FC3 aircraft please don't crucify me.

In terms of ED I'd wager their 'diverse' range of aircraft is more aligned to their military contracts and also the reason why they have so many changes of direction......the tail is wagging the dog!
On the Eighth day God created Paratroopers and the Devil stood to attention.
But I was mainly thinking about the external module makers. They seem to be following their 'hearts' and interests instead of commercial interests.

There is no big financial gain from military contracts to be made with modules such as the PAH-1. The guy who works on that one simply does so because he very much wants to see that helicopter in DCS.
And while I would instantly buy an AH-64 I'm really looking forward to the PAH.
There's a great vid on the PAH (in German, but you can add basic subtitles):
