IT IS NOW OFFICIAL!

The 352nd FG has been reactivated! On March 19th we received orders to begin the reactivation process. Advance parties have been busy rehabilitating the billets and mess halls. The maintenance and communication facilities also have been undergoing repairs and upgrading. We expect full operational status is to be obtained shortly.

Jacksprat,

Does this mean that you will fly online as a squadron ?

Very good news !

Please announce schedule and EAW settings so that you may have some Axis lone-wolf opposition.

Lolo

I first tried to fly on-line with the 352nd dbeav worked with me but I was unable to grasp the basics and gave up..I met Gus and he got me started and in the air on-line..Both men are examples of the level of support this community gives to it's members. It's good to see a squadron come back from the grave.I'm sure Jelly and LOlo and a few others are waiting for the for them.

At the moment we are not using teamspeak at GameRanger, so we would love to see you flying.
I need to make a new MP set-up as I suspect that some of my files have been modified and we had numerous CsTD at the weekend.

It's great to see the interest in the 352nd reforming. For those of you looking forward to some spirited online competition be forewarned..... I suck worse now than I did way back when. Of course I guess that could get some of you looking forward to this even more. smile

The past post was March 30th and it is now mid- May, so how are things going? Have you guys had any multiplayer sessions, or are things still crystallising?

Edit:

I just checked your website. Are you guys still trying to use EAW 1.2 ?

Hello Mr Jelly,

Thanks for taking an interest in our progress or lack of the same. The situation at the present time is that 4 0f us former active members are now in contact and are involved in varying degrees in reestablishing regular on-line flying sessions. For most of us it is a matter of relearning the basics of flying EAW and also recovering the ability of linking our computers together so as to fly together.

That being said, the present situation is that we have not had an On-Line flying session yet. RL is putting a brake on our progress and there is no sense in wasting tears about it. I expect that we will accomplish that goal very shortly. The process really began at the end of last year when dBeav broached the possibility of closing the 352 Web Site. We / I am / are interested in seeing if we can get reestablish the group to function over the long haul. This is a situation where “Haste makes waste” seems to apply. After reuniting four of our inactive members, we have examined the situation concerning the new versions of the EAW program that have been developed. It was decided that the simplest process of resuming our group activities was to go back to where we had left off and restore our EAW V1.2 setups and become adept at performing with that version. When we have accomplished that, then we will look into adding Version 1.28/29 ability to our inventory of activities. The third step would be to get into Version 1.4
That is our present tentative plan. There is no command structure that issues orders or schedules. All activity and progress will be based on group consensus. Our goal is the same as it has always been, enjoy personal satisfaction through mutual cooperation and group activity.
The organizational environment that the 352ndFG will be operating in is the EAW community as it now exists and evidences itself through the SimHQ EAW forum. It seems that there is no total or overwhelming choice between the 3 major versions of the EAW program. It would seem that it would be to our advantage to have the ability to interact on-line with anyone who wishes to try the experience of on-line flying. As far as possible, we wish to be open for interaction with any well-intentioned persons.
I hope I have answered your questions satisfactorily. I am eager to post the news on the forum when we have resumed actual flying operations. My personal goal is expand the group’s previous ability to fly personal planes into total unit activity in formation combat.

Again, thanks for the friendly interest

Jack McGarvey

I just applied to join and am waiting for admin confirmation.
I could make three set-ups available from OneDrive which has essentially the default ETO theatre and aircraft.

One would be a 1.28c version
The second a 1.29 version
The third a 1.40 version.

That would give us chance to try them at GameRanger and see if connections work and so on.
Personally I find the multiplayer limitations in 1.2 dreadful, and would much prefer to use 1.28c.

Cheers

Jel

Hi guys,
I have a 1.40Rebuild folder that I have been working on getting all the
sounds I have made installed. Approx. 477 start and run sounds. Tedious thou.....
Have to assign all sounds in the planesFM folders. So far I have got ETO, and
SPAW done. (The numbering is different,....WW1 is 66 - 119, IRAQ is 120 -179, etc.)

Anyway, the 1.40Rebuild was offered with the new NGlide. It is a quick install
that you have been able to add other theatres.

I also converted a 352nd Multi-plane folder to "plane" and it works fine, except for a
couple of little glitches. Jack originally made this for D3D. In Glide, some of the
planes dont render properly.

The D3D setting is available to me in all of my 1.40 installs, but always CTD's
now after the loading screen.

I think this install is simple and easy. The only problem might be an O/S which
might need a windower. None of these installs create a connection problem, as long as
we all use the same install. The connection problems come from routers and firewalls
and antivirus and some O/S settings.

Jel, if we all had the same install working, how could we all get our own plane?
Wouldn't my plane have to be the 01 in the multiskin? In my 352 multiskin Dumo's
plane is 01 and mine is 02. I wanted to test this, but it has to be done the old way,
by changing the pointer in the 3dz and re-naming.(Can I just re-name the TPC after
that?)
Anyway, not as worried about that as about getting us all working!

I have just posted in the "Bulletin Board" re a special 1.29 test installation for the group wink

Roller I am dog tired, so I will get back to you tomorrow.
However, the latest full 1.40 set-up is available using the link in my signature.
Check the "EAW still going strong" sticky in this forum for what to download and what order the patches need to be run in.

wink Jel

I just modified it

I will put a 7-zip at the d/l page, to be run in the "352ndEAW140" folder.
The screen, a new version of "MSTEXT.STR" and a "NoWW1TO" file will be put in the planeset1 folder.
The latter disables the WW1 scramble take off which is linked to single engined fighters on grass runways.

It is there now "Screen-Stuff.exe" smile
