So, I think I found the front line one, too.

But this one is a bit more complicated..... So, I need a bit of advise as I'm not familiar with what looks right on the amount of flak.

1. This is a screenshot of quite sector archie. Does it look right?

2. Each war period has its own file (i.e. somme, ypres, etc...), so is it the same amount of archie as quite times or is it like the balloons?

Thanks to all who download and comment on my MODS.

That is an interesting question...were additional AA units moved to a sector of the front during an offensive buildup and during the attack itself?

I would say "Yes" but that is completely a guess but it would make sense as all (most?) ground unit types would be involved I think?
An important clue would be how and to who AA units were attached. To the artillery? Then yes as they were focused (concentrated) during times of offensive.
To an army of corps directly? Then yes again I would think.

I'll go with that and the explanation is good enough for me. Download is up on the MODs thread.

Nice.
Thank you sir. Your quite the early bird. Thought I was the only one up this early trying to get some WOFF time in.

Remember that flak increases automatically as the war progresses in the stock version. Lot more archie going on in 1918 than in 1916. Also if you set ground accuracy/rof to hard, you will notice much more archie than with easy etc. In stock version archie in 1918 has more puffs than in the pic above.
Adding many more AA guns, additionally with the automatic increase already in the game, might make FPS suffer a lot, and additionally have an unrealistic WWII style number of cloudpuffs.

I'd prefer more of these type of addons and less useless trains and objects that one never see's. How many objects are spawned and are never used for missions etc. Now if someone could figure out how to remove those in a MOD that would be great.

That's the beauty of the modders work.
All can add to taste and what they perceive to be realistic based on what they know or feel.

Historically I am unsure about adding more. AA did make kills, and pilots certainly respected it and tried to avoid it, but that is one of those things that probably seemed much more menacing in real life then in-game. Of course they didn't have the luxury of a career restart.

Thank you Creaghorn for your constructive feedback on this MOD. I am always eager to hear any type of feedback from the Devs. Now, I will give my views.

That is very true and I have also noticed this. However, even with those increases, I still feel there is not enough flak going on around the battle areas and that is why I made this MOD.

Again, you are correct. However, I do not want to change my workshop settings to anything harder. The good thing about this MOD is that the flak will increase without adjusting anything in the workshop. Also, I'd rather not have accurate ground fire turned on because that turns out to be too accurate for my tastes. So, I'd prefer many non accurate AI trying to hit my plane than a few accurate marksman who can nail me on the spot. That pic was taken while I was experimenting with the MOD in a QC mission and doesn't represent the final MOD.

I couldn't find a way to increase the rate of AA fire. It has not had a negative impact on my FPS yet. IMHO, the number of cloudpuffs in this MOD will never reach that of WW2's number because I simply don't know how to do it:

Duke it's better to try the mod then see if it's too much....up to you

Well yes that's what I was saying - apparently in a inept fashion.
Try it and see how it "feels to you" in play.
Wasn't dinging your work sir.

No sweat Duke, it's all good. Just didn't want anyone to prejudge without trying it out first.

Here is the final MOD version in 1918...

For a battle area (concentration and/or focus of resources) and in 1918 (more of everything) it looks pretty darn good to me.

Flak/Archie in WW1 was a lot less and less accurate than in WW2. So don't make it like a WW2 flak for sure.
Seems pointless making mods on "feel" maybe do some more research and see what it was like, or if not needed I'd say.

But many many variables at play, are there major battles on, type of year maybe more than one unit nearby in certain areas and so on. It got more deadly as the war went on, but not near WW2 standards.

well I like this mod. Its very helpfull at finding EA as one sees flak way before you see the little dots of said EA. I fly with AA settings at hard and havn't been hit yet...nobody has not even the enemy, unlike back in OFF days gone by.

We may not know just how much Archie was where at what date, but, reading all of my books it seems everyone was archied when flying over the lines and this is missing in the vanilla WOFF.

If I could comment on the mod. Maybe not just adding flak to certain battles, rather along the whole front, say each infantry block has 1 or 2 Flak guns instead of those useless artillery pieces that sit there and do nothing.

I agree with you Lederhosen, but unlike you I have been hit and I've lost a wingman to archie now that I'm using OldHat's mod.

Lederhosen, I completely agree. I think AA along the front is a good idea. That way, you feel like you actually crossed the lines instead of waiting until you a balloon position or factory behind the line.

No changes to this MOD as it still works in WOFF3 with no problems.
