Looks cool. Don't forget that airfields are very FPS sucking . One of the reasons why there is more strain on CPU in Flanders than in Marne etc. Simply because there are so many more airfields and AC etc. in the area. So if you add all that to all airfields, it might bring one or the others FPS pretty much down. My suggestion would be, if I would do such a mod, to find a way to only have my own airfield crowded, and leave the others as they are. First of all because one would not see other airfields close anyway. If attacking enemy airfields, the chaps down there wouldn't sit on benches and play cards or do this and that anyway, but hide. And even if not, you would need to make damage models of them as well. So if you make all airfields with this mod, find a way to load only the mod for the airfield the player is using, or at least the "airfield version" the player is using. One starts a career, needs to know what airfield version it is, and swap the apropriate airfield with this mod. Of course you can try as intended. If it works out without suffering too much FPS, then even better. BTW. I'm not a Dev, I did the sounds but otherwise I'm more what Igor is for Frankenstein, or Renfield for Dracula

Creaghorn, you're a dev in my eyes no matter how you phrase it. I completely agree with what you say, but I'm not sure how to do it without explaining how to edit files. Anyways, if you have any ideas on how your technique can be accomplished, I am all for it and would gladly welcome a PM from you if you like. The figure's polygons are very low count, but I'll put it up for beta testing once Aris is done with some awsome HD textures.
Here's pretty much what I envision the large airfields (not bombers) to look like when it's done.

BTW. I'm not a Dev, I did the sounds but otherwise I'm more what Igor is for Frankenstein, or Renfield for Dracula Those latest screen prints look fantastic, OldHat! How about a few folks and/or vehicles at the far end of the airfield waiting for your squad when they land. Its awfully lonely out there right now and sometimes I feel like the guys at the airfield are not glad to see us come home. You'd think someone would hear us as we approach and circle the field and head down there and be waiting to greet us

Oh, Wow, that is just perfect! Not too much, but just a few folks starting to gather. Others will probably have better ideas, but maybe 2 or 3 guys walking up in the background (the guys coming out to help push the planes back). But this is just great, OldHat!

OldHat, are you creating those figures and objects and if so what software are you using. If not, may I ask the source?

Looks good! I think you may need to add smoothing to human models though. I'm not very familiar with GMax, but I think the simplest way is to use "Smooth" modifier with "Auto Smooth" option. And it won't increase polygon count - on the contrary smoothed models are more efficient than ones with hard edges (not that it matters with such low poly models anyway In fact they are so low poly that I'm not sure smoothing will even work).

AnKor, you're right, but I'm a novice at 3D modeling, so I can't invest the time to do it now. Maybe in the next few weeks.
I will add a few more random supplies and crates around the airfield then package it for download soon. The next release phase will hopefully include more of Aris's texture work and some 3D model smoothing.Re-texture of the shed by Aris
