Here are all the contents of the multimedia part of Fleet Defender Gold which was written to run on Windows 3.x

It includes the interactive tutorials, Aviation Week's Flight Deck videos, MIG Shootdown - recording of famous Gulf of Sidra incident that took place in 1989 (erroneously stated 1984 in the video) between pair of Tomcats and Floggers.

Shame that the tutorials only decsribe the Standard Avionics option, which are the most easy and simplistic one.

On the Authentic level you have full control over your radar scan area (tilt, bars, width), you can also launch 6 Phoenix missiles simultaneously in TWS-A or TWS-M mode. But these kind of things you have to look up in the manual.

Nevertheless they are still fun to watch, especially some of the Aviation Week's Flight Deck videos.

@BrianLidd - If you want to run the Steam version be aware of some tweaking required to bring this game to enjoyable state.

also if you encounter any problems with the joystick, get a peek inside the dosbox_fleetdefender.conf file in your \Steam\SteamApps\common\Fleet Defender\dosbox_windows folder

Look for [joystick] section, the game comes with these default settings



I'm running the original retail CD version 2.0 on my own DOSBox config for many years now, and these joystick settings works for me (with working HAT switch, throttle and rudder):

Also, you may try to run the "encyclopedia" yourself through \Steam\SteamApps\common\Fleet Defender\CD\mainmenu.exe. Unfortunatelly AFAIK it's a 16-bit windows application, so it will not run on modern OS or plain DOSBox (probably DOSBox running Windows 3.11 would run it or any other windows supprting 16-bit applications for that matter). I have recorded the videos on my still holding pretty well XP machine. That's the sole purpose of me uploading all those videos - to make them easily available for everyone.
