Isn't this game basically one where it's a forgone conclusion that you'll die and it's just a matter of holding out?

I'm just not sure how much I could enjoy it given that failure is already decided.

I'd love to see a post-apocalyptic game (with no freaking zombies) that's just like this, but does have the possibility of finding help within the story line.

I've enjoyed it too but I play it off and on. There is supposed to be a story mode coming. It is very pretty and atmospheric. Great shots!

The game makes me feel cold when I play it. Brrrrrrrr

Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.

Yes although there is a guy who has been holding out for 2000+ in game days and still going. It's one of those games where the first few weeks in game are fairly hard (Stalker mode) and it becomes easier as you stock up on supplies. Everything degrades including items and clothing so you are never really set as there is always something to do, somewhere further to explore, more hides needed to fix your degraded or damaged wolf coat etc. The problem with longer survival is you get careless and then bam, you are dead or in a lot of trouble a long way from shelter. Wolves, bear attack, infection, didn't bring enough supplies, getting tired and a blizzard hits..insta lost and all your hard work goes down the drain. Bums you out until you decide..ok, this time i am making it to a hundred days and being more careful!

I've been wondering how they will do the story mode, hoping they keep it really open ended, not go here, do this, get that.

100 days (now is 120) - recorded in diary. smile

The "Wolf'jacket" - one stabbed.

The "freezer" - raw and cooked food last longer there.

The "hothouse" - drying skins, guts and archery wood:

The "factory" - in "Wolf Village" - good place for base camp, but plenty of ambush in approach.

1 bear attack, ~8 wolf attack, 2 claustrophobia crisis, 1 involuntary "diving" into the lake, to catch a fish over the thin ice bank ... a rotten fish.

2 rifles only 1 bullet last.

Hunted 2 dear and 3 wolfs, but missing 6 or 7 shots, shoot at attacking wolfs is waste of ammo.

Flint, magnifier and some tools.

Stitching clothes with fishing hook and line made of guts.

My islands:

A bit bored with that place, but very comfortable there to go "in to the wild". biggrin
