For the Monforton book, its ideal for outside shapes and greater details but internal framework, especially how the control column works and bolts into the structure, heel board assembly and rudder bar and measurements of things like the gunsight mount and how it ties in with the structure of the windscreen and coaming, how the instrument panel hoop sits aft of the rear face of F8,how the seat hangs off F11 with shock absorbers and the framework can be unpinned and removed as a structure you will only know by studying the original drawings and parts manual.Even with the 3,000 odd drawings available it will not give you 100% of the drawings needed. If you need details on what drawings are needed give me a bell..
That flap lever came up a treat wink Yep it can be polished through using varying finer grades of wet and dry paper.

Haha fair point!!!

I did see that one however I am sure it is larger than this one...

I do need another one of the larger one you pointed out though, the one I own is also a bit shabby so it could need replacing

The way to go is to have access to an actual spitfire. smile2 But yeah, I want my starting point to be in the fixturing and locating...that way 3D printed parts/castings or other references have a "chance" to fit like they're supposed to.

So far I have solid models done for the 2 instrument panels + frame locations and then a measurable mesh for the longerons (marked black). I've resized/skewed the view in perspective to protect some of Monforton's work buried in there (green).

We had to sell our soul to the devil and do unmentionable things to get access to original spitfire bits where we could..zombie

Yep get the major structure in place first then fill out the details as you can..Get as MUCH reference photos etc off the net as you can,it all helps believe me.

Sounds good. Will do. Looking at all these 3D printed parts makes me want to burn a hole in my wallet buying a machine shop!
