Nothing says "modern times" louder than a game engine whose sales pitch is "broadcasting capabilities built-in"... and to Twitch of all platforms, probably the worst and most unreliable of them all. I guess they need to draw people in... But still.

Aside from seeing if gameplay sucks I don't get the allure of watching people play games. It's more boring than watching golf and that's the ultimate boring spectator sport.

How does Amazon benefit from making their game engine free to use for anyone? Do they get a fee or something if a developer releases a commercial product using their engine? With Amazon Lumberyard, developers only pay standard AWS fees for the AWS services they choose to use. With Amazon GameLift, you simply pay for the standard AWS fees for Amazon EC2, Amazon EBS, and data transfer you actually use, plus a small fee per Daily Active User.

A more accurate equivalent would be let's watch random backyard football games The NFL is olympic level sprinters trying to out chess each other. Twitch is watching freshmen play video games. MR. SMARTYASSPANTS

If I could figure out how to wear one of those propeller hats with my Sordins I'd totally shoot matches like that.

Well, it seems they are doing this to get people to use AWS (amazon web services), but in the FAQ, it does say you don't have to pay anything if you want a single player offline game, or if you have your own servers and such you can use your own. I think the idea here is to just make it easier to use their stuff. I did download it and will take a look later.

I'm going to order a 2x4x12x6. I need to see if Amazon supports 4 dimensional lumber.
