Just stumbled over the review of this game (release date: today): http://www.firewatchgame.com/From what I've read and seen on YouTube, it looks quite intriguing. I'll wait for some more reviews (don't need another "Ethan Carter" letdown) , but I might just get it.
Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

Im got it preloaded. Its 17 bucks on steam and the game is supposed to be about 6hrs long. But I love this type of story driven game. Not sure it will have much replay though. Going to be doing a lets play of it on my youtube channel. No doubt I'll break my previous record of 2 views!

Not sure it will have much replay though. Yeah, that's the fundamental problem with games like "Alan Wake". Unlike an RPG there are no alternate endings so once you finish the game once you've seen all there is to see. It is indeed like playing a movie.

Meh as long as it's an interesting story like Alan Wake I don't mind lack of replay-ability. I buy Arma for that sort of thing, I buy these for the experience.

I'm curious of any impressions. A story driven game I can recommend is "Life is Strange".

I've been watching this one too. I think I'll wait until some reviews though. I'm really enjoying Ethan Carter. Since I last visited the game, they had given me their updated Unreal Engine 4 update and it runs even better than the original lol. Its a beautiful game.
I get them for the experience too. Love, love story/immersive games. I'm continuing Ethan Carter, replaying Alan Wake again, King's Quest, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment, Deadly Premonition(Panzer, you should give this one a try) and Indigo Prophecy.

Downloading as I type this. I really like the graphical style, and for $17 it isn't a huge gamble. I'll report back with my thoughts on it later today.

Thanks Paul I'll be looking forward to what you have to say. I've been reading some of the reviews and it sounds like a good one. So far all the negative reviews I've seen have more or less to do with people griping over technical issues(like with their laptop setups or game not starting) and not the game itself. I wish there was some way Steam could prevent someone writing a review based on the fact they couldn't start the game. That's not fair to a developer releasing a game on day one. They should be instructed to visit the forums(because that's where I find answers to 99% of my problems with a game) or give them a refund. I think maybe they should not approve a review that's based on 0.7 hours of game time coupled with a technical complaint.

I'm seeing that with XCOM which is in all respects a brilliant game. "I had an 80% chance to hit and I missed and my whole squad died." Welcome to XCOM mofo, next time position your troops more carefully in that TACTICS based game

Well, I'm a couple of hours in. So far I like it. The scenery is nice to take in, the story-line builds slowly (but not so slowly that you lose interest). The voice acting is very good and the main characters are likable (although if I was the main character, I wouldn't have taken the path that led him out to the wilderness in the first place)..

It looks like a lot of laptops are defaulting to the Intel VGA chip which is not good.I suffered the same problem with a few games I bought in the past. There must be a dozen different posts all suffering from low frame-rates,a quick look reveals most are using mobile chipsets. The devs ought to put up a sticky for laptop users to address this issue.
Looks an interesting game and cheap too.Might pick it up this week.

Does the game afford the player opportunities to explore? Are there any activities or actions that you can do between the story segments or where they push you along or does it play more of like a walking simulator? Looks really good and there's tons more positive reviews. You can go off and explore, take in the scenery etc, but there is little else to do other than that if you choose to take a break from the storyline (at least from what I have seen so far). It isn't as open as something like Skyrim. There are goals to achieve and once you do, the story can advance several days and you are put back into the 'action' at a different location that is pertinent to the next chapter. I haven't managed to get far if I choose to go off trail. The terrain will prevent you from straying too far from the paths.

I'm guessing that is what I am experiencing. I'm only getting 15-20fps on my laptop which was surprising as it has a GTX660M. It's not an action game though, so 15-20 fps doesn't give a horrible experience.
