Cool. This must be a one-time only kinda thing because I'm not finding tour dates.

I might go see Metallica if they ever make it back to New Orleans and I find someone else who wants to go. I imagine the crowds are much older and not so rowdy anymore (not my speed). Although I don't remember any Metallica fans destroying the facility as was the case with the Baton Rouge Centroplex when AC/DC came for a show in the early '80s...

++++++++++
"I had just turned 15, and this was the first rock concert I ever attended. The pot smoke was so thick in the air, it's amazing anybody survived the performance. After the concert, unconscious people littered the sidewalks surrounding the Centroplex, and this received heavy local new coverage for the next week. I think this was the first, and last, time AC/DC ever performed in BR."

"This was the last rock concert at the Baton Rouge Centroplex because of the destruction caused to the place by the rowdy crowd. Let there be rock, hells bells, highway to hell, whole lot of rosie, rocker, back in black. rock and roll ain't noise polution, for those about to rock, it did not stop."

++++++++++

Oh wait, there was that incident in Toronto. No, that was Guns N' Roses' (Axl) fault, right? I liked James Hetfield's (and the rest of Metallica) attitude on VH1's "Behind the Music", G'n'R should have stepped up and saved the night, not ruined it for everyone.

These incidents kept me from wanting to see bands known for having rowdy crowds, even if I love their music. But like I said, I'm sure Metallica attracts mostly an older behaved crowd these days.

BTW, I'm also a fan of the '90s Load/Reload (old pics, disregard the other stuff)...

...plus some recent bargain bin finds at Walmart (duplicates, can't help myself, I give the extra CD to my brother)...

Have fun at the show, man. Give us a detailed AAR!

Found one more in my archives...

The Black Album on tape, hell yeah!

The rusty wire that holds the cork that keeps the anger in
Gives way and suddenly it’s day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset, hmph
Could be the human race is run

Well, that concert absolutely kicked ass. Ok, I'm heavily biased to Metallica, but seriously. These guys just sound better as they get older. The riffs and bass were so heavy yet clean. And the show itself with the big screen special effects, lighting, lasers and pyrotechnics set them apart from everyone else. My bubblegum, Britney Spears pop music listening wife was impressed. The (blurry) pics below don't do justice.

Too Heavy for Halftime

Your standard Metallica opening, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Creeping Death

James talking to the crowd

Fuel

The Unforgiven

Trujillo, bass solo

One

Master of Puppets

Kirk, guitar solo

Watched it on the tube last night, good stuff, must have been a blast Chaz! Still got my Metallica ball as well (pic 2 and 3 above) from about three years ago.
