Put $50 of gas in your tank. How far do you get? With fuel prices this low, quite a distance. But don't try to hit Miami Beach from downtown Atlanta, though: your tank will run dry by Pompano Beach, with still 35 miles to go. So where do you take your sweet new ride for a long weekend? Assuming there's a gas station in the centre of each of the major cities depicted here yes, statistics is a funny business this is how far a $50 tank of gas will get you. Our data is based on a car that consumes 24 miles per gallon, and uses gas price estimates from GasBuddy.com.

I would like to see the same with European maps and cities.

I can't put $50 in my car! A fill up these days costs about $20, filling up the hose almost to the cap.
My road trip would be pretty similar to that link, being from central MS. MS is well located to leave it for other areas. LOL

Assuming $1.59 per gallon and being able to refill up to $50 total, I'd make it to Laredo, TX biggrin And in Euro-land, my car isn't particularly economical.

I fill up my gas tank the other day, 20 gallons, at 55 cents per gallon with my Safeway $1 per gallon discount, good up to 25 gallons.

I wished I had a 5 gallons plastic gas container, I would had gotten the full 25 gallons.

Have it at $1.45/gal here. Could fill up all 3 of my cars and have room to spare for $50
right now. Loving it, but just wish I had more time to enjoy it.

I didn't see where it said $50 worth of gas in one fill-up.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Having lived in Pompano Beach for 12 yrs, it's really not a bad place to run out of gas.
Just saying.

My distance judgement is for the trip I do most often. I drive once a year to Harrisburg PA from Ft Wayne IN to visit the in-laws. 500 miles one way. On the link, about the same distance from Atlanta to Ft Wayne.

My Jeep TJ has a 16 gal tank, and since I modded it with bigger and wider tires and weighed it sown with new heavy duty bumpers and stuff I'm only getting about 180 mile (max) on a tank. So for me in that car I could make it from Ft Wayne to just past Pittsburgh...which is 200 miles from Harrisburg. Maybe highway miles would be better...but I don't really do distance in my TJ anymore. It would definitely be two stops for gas to make it there close to "E".

Wife has her stock Jeep Liberty, and $50 would get us to Harrisburg now. A couple of years ago it took us around $200 to get there, but it's a one stop trip to get there near "E".

$50 would not fill my tank. Most of the gas price consist of tax and fees in Europe so the oil price is less significant.

Um, I lived in the Atlanta area for nine years.

Fifty bucks of gas will get you from Marietta to Morrow - about 25 miles - after one idles for five hours in gridlock traffic.

That works out at about 7.5 gallons (UK) of super diesel, which will get me about 200 miles or so if I'm on a run. Super diesel being around 5 a gallon, A UK gallon being about 4.5 litres and a litre costing around 1.10.

In most of Europe over 50% of the retail price for a liter of gas is tax. screwy

That is for an Imperial gallon. It is ~3.8 litres per American gallon.

1 US gallon = 0.83267384 Imp gallon = 3.78541178 Liters

1 Imperial gallon = 1.20095042 US gallon = 4.54609188 Liters

1 Liter = 0.264172052 US gallon = 0.219969157 Imp gallon

Not far, at all. I end up filling my tank maybe 1.5 times a week on average.
