Hi Firebird,

I tried to watch the AVI, but it just sits at 0% with the small circle spinning. Waited for a few minutes.

I only have a download rate of 5.6MB (rural user), could that be the problem ?

Andy

I know Ogre was tried a while ago, but now that 1.16 uses D3D9, would Ogre provide a better engine?

D3D9 is just an interface. If you change a remote control for your CRT TV it would not become LCD one showing FullHD quality programs.
The engine itself left unchanged, it's still 15-years old one. It knows nothing about how to use modern GFX cards or CPUs.

It seems they used a different one, from some other game. But I'm not sure - I both not played EE2 much and saw no sources - they are not available.
Thus it's not 15 years old, just 10.

Ah ok, I see. It looks like there is still a lot of work to get the Ogre version to work well, and then to bring it up to a high standard.
