Liberty Bell, Greaves and Hovey. I served 19 months; I was extended 6 months. I was a really slow turtle getting through the Turtle Farm.

No, it wasn't hidden from the families or any such nonsense. As a matter of fact President Reagan mentioned them in a speech he gave at Camp Liberty Bell in 1983. Go down to paragraph 9. http://www.reagan.utexas.edu/archives/speeches/1983/111383a.htm

I was in Korea from May 89 to May 90, and I don't think there was anyone in 2ID who didn't know about this.
The DPRK is really like no other country in the world, with the number of openly provocative acts of war it commits every year. Iran taking US sailors into custody for straying into their territorial waters? The DPRK navy attacks ROK naval vessels in "disputed" international waters. Incursions at he DMZ are common, as oldgrognard mentioned, and I doubt it's still there now, but back in 1990 we still had an active artillery firebase called 4P3 to support DMZ patrols. The guns (M198 towed howitzers) were in ENORMOUS earth-covered concrete overhead shelters that IIRC were proof against direct hits by 203mm shells. Nobody knows how many DPRK agents and saboteurs are roaming the South, with their families held hostage against their defecting. I'm sure plenty still do.

Yep. And as I stated previously, I remember the incident and I was only 14. It was big news for maybe a week on all the network evening new shows.

Did they still call the RepDepot the Turtle Farm ? They still called it the turtle farm when I went through there at Camp Casey in '95. Turtle farm moved off of Casey just before I left there completing my tour.

Was it a sub-base of Redcloud ?
