High over the Front
In the apparent series of equipment questions comes the final one - again need an opinion based on logic and/or experience...or maybe a SWAG.

After much thought, for my first post-Sidewinder ship purchase I choose the DBS over the Cobra.
My thoughts here were that at the small ship level, with limited cargo space, I find the bulk of early career funds, for me, come from bounty hunting. A good hour in a HRES is equal to dozens of low-volume (legal) cargo hauls. Same with delivery missions at low experience levels.

The DBS, when fitted out, is almost as fast as the Cobra and the visibility and, more importantly, weapon placement is far better with the DBS. Next ship will almost certainly be a Cobra or maybe a "6" for pure trading once I see how the ever-changing rate of interdictions go.

Anyway I like the ability to get out of trouble as fast as got into it so a little help with a fast getaway is sought.
If I was in the Cobra the choice of a chaff launcher would be a no-brainer however with the inherent low heat signature of the DBS another possibility opens up - the heat sink launcher.

In the DBS, for making quick getaways from a losing fight or interdictions, any thoughts on chaff or the heat sink launcher?

I agree, if you want to get away from the fight with minimal/no damage use speed and chaff. Heatsinks will do little against a human player and not much better against AI. During interdictions the enemy is already within weapon range.

This is Bobby Rahal, thanks for playing the trial version of Microsoft's CART Precision Racing

Thank you gentlemen.
That's the direction I was leaning but wished to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

I wonder what made you think of heat sink in the first place?

I have both on my Viper MkIV. I've yet to be scanned while using both together.

But usually I just dump chaff while boosting to evade interdiction.

Heat sinks will break a target lock unlike chaff which just interferes with gimbals and the KWS.
Heat sinks do it all (by breaking the target lock) so in that regard they are better then chaff. Is it as effective is the wild card.
Their not just for SCB spammers anymore!

EDIT: In fact, the more I think about it, I will probably give the heat sinks a try first.
