Hi guys, just venting some frustration with LB2:

I have been once of those fortunate enough to get LB2 to run without major issues, with BIG thanks to Flyboy. That was until a while ago. My old PC finally died and I bought a new one (originally with Windows 8, now Windows 10) and I haven't been able to enjoy LB2 again.

Here is what I've done so far:
On Win7, I was able to use MS Compatibility Tool Kit (using the ACT file called PositiveGs-database.zip). It no longer installs on Win8/Win10.
I can play it with dgVoodoo (same one I always used) but it CTD on mission end or a sound gets stuck in a loop and nothing responds (have to hard boot).
Tried newer versions of dgVoodoo but can't even get them to work.
Tried nglide. At first seems to work but whenever I finish a mission, screen goes black. I can still hear the music playing and if I play around with the keys and press enter screens flicker for a moment like is changing screens.
In the past I used "WinLauncherXP" to play it, and once the mission starts it just simple close (like a CTD without any error message).

Oh well, enough for now. I will play around some other time and see if I have better luck.

Did you get it run yet?
Have you tried nGlide instead of dgVoodoo?
(the new versions of dgVoodoo seem quite different than the old ones)

Tried a few different versions of nglide and it still crashes after missions end, except for the latest one that doesn't crash but as mentioned before, screen goes black and music still plays nut can't do anything.

Got LB2 running with dvVoodoo 2.4 but instead of crashing after mission ending, the screen goes black and nothing happens

That's partly good news, at least. I think i had problems last time i tried. We should ask Recluse whether he can get LB2 running again. He has Win 7 now.

I have resisted trying to get the old girl working on Win7 for fear that I will run into the same issues as described...still...it has worked for others, I guess. My CHPro Rudders just went Tango Uniform, (bad pots?) which will make helo flying problematic as I was so used to using them for tail rotor control.

I guess I can plug my Cougar+Pedals back into the XP machine where LB2 is running well to try it out before Facing the Music and Dancing on Win7

Had great hopes that Flexman's Combat Helo would revive the glory days of LB2 for modern machines and networks.

I will have a lot of time off over the Christmas/New Years break, so maybe I will pick up my lance, mount Rocinante and Tilt at the LB2 rotary wing windmill!!

I was finally able to install the MS Compatibility Tool kit that fixed my problems on Win7 but then LB2 doesn't even starts. Had to do a Sys Restore.

Good to see you're still messing around with LB2, Punisher. I wish I had some valuable input but I'm now so 'out' of the sim scene I can't even recall most solutions or possible solutions off the top of my head. It seems like a lifetime ago I was involved with all this.
