Bought the game about a year ago primarily for practicing CAS operations.
I wanted to see how effective CAS could be, something lacking in the other simulations I have played previously
I would not describe it as high fidelity but it certainly IMO, has potential if the developers take the time to increase its fidelity
Already there have been some incremental improvements in important areas.

List of improvements. and a short video highlighting some improvements In version 1.5 https://youtu.be/dUy0uddwXBk

Tanks with laser rangefinder. An automatic calculation fire solution taking into account range, wind speed, own tank speed, angular speed of target LOS is now implemented. (RShift+L)
Added Arcade (isometric) View
Uragan MRLS can now be controlled by player
Added Sights for Challenger 2 and LAV-25
Added Sights for M6 Linebacker (M2 Bradley sight for the gun, Avenger sight for SAM)
Synchronization issues in Multiplayer is fixed
Fixed sight visibility limitation while zooming in fog conditions
Fixed air target radio emissions detection with RWR, if the target is not visible for ground radars due to curvature of earth
Added Sights for T-72 and T-90 MBT (from T-80)
Corrected SAM launch for Oliver Perry and Normandy
Added second reverse gear for M1A2 MBT
Added initial voice communications for Red and Blue tank crews. More to come.
Adjusted M1A2 engagement range

Fan made skins looking pretty good.

A good example of CAS support in DCS CA.

Thanks for posting. The videos are great. Having just gotten all of this installed, I want to re-look Combined Arms in hopes they've added some user friendly missions that were not so present before.

I tend to make my own, simple company level advance to contact type missions
I like to include a recon type vehicle and spot targets for the CAS
But I have also played MP with a group of guys battalion level who really knew there #%&*$#,
This is where CA shines. and with the imminent release of two more helicopters gunships modules the Gazelle and Bo-105
Both armed with ATGM,s, A player will be able to portray German and French units.

Some more of the above skins the guy has done a good job
CA models have not been that detailed so the new skins certainly are welcome.

Just read an article from Wags CEO of ED
Not much in the way of information on CA but there's a mention that they are expanding there project.
