Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Many years ago I did see a superhero parody by a german comic artist. Dont really remeber any details. It was karge format, not colored and the plot was two guys slugging it out in something like a typical US downtown area. With the level of destructin increasing as the fight continued.
In the end it turned out that it both were local superheros in love with the commissioners daughter and not a good and a bad guy.
But that was a parody.

How about Liechtenstein? Aren't there any superheroes that originated there?

What about the Siegfried / Sigurd in the Nibelungenlied?
Part of the basis for Wagner's Ring cycle of operas which is a mixture of Norse and Germanic myths with the god Wotan, king of the gods and who can forget Brnnhilde of the Valketies

Observe the history of the superheroes: they are modeled after the pulp heroes of the early 20th century. Pulp fiction is a very american-centric invention.
The Shadow is the direct forerunner of Batman. Doc Savage is the prototype for Superman. Market fluctuations, political and societal upheaval helped at different points in history so that American customers lost interest or access to Horror, Romance, Cowboy, Crime, and other comics topics and superheroes remained.
The European and Asian history of comics is completely different. And so are the comics. Without roots in the pulps comic history took a different turn.
Ever heard of the British comic Johnny Red? They relaunched it a few weeks ago. It's about an English Pilot who is stranded with his Hurricane in Murmansk during WWII and fights with a Russian squadron on the Eastern Front.

Eh...I don't think that really counts.
I mean, we might as well throw in all of the Greek and Roman gods too then.
I think Letterboy was asking about the 20th century crime-fighting superhero specifically.

The only thing that comes to my mind are the Sigurd comics by Hansrudi Wscher from the 1950s.
There are still tons of Sigurd/Wscher fans around. Mostly elder men in their retirement age who read the books in their youth. You can see them at signings in droves (H.R. Wscher seems to enjoy it).
Another popular space opera hero in german pulp literature starting in 1961-'til now and adapted to comics is Perry Rhodan Wikipedia .

Have you read Wonder Woman or Captain Marvel? They certainly rely a lot on the intervention of those gods.

Supertuga looks more like Luigi's(from Super Mario Brothers) long lost brother.
