I don't know if anybody here is still playing Attila, but CA recently announced a new DLC/campaign pack.

Called the "Age of Charlemagne" it will take the game a few hundred years ahead into the 8th and 9th centuries or the very early middle ages, and it will follow the conquests of Charles the 1st--king of the Franks.

This may be the closest one will get to a Medieval 3 for a while.

Here's a link to the Steam page with a short promo trailer.

Nice, looks like more than a mini campaign, whole new Map, units UI etc.
Thanks for the info charge

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I'll be pre-ordering it.

I enjoyed "The Last Roman" immensely and finished the campaign as all the playable factions.

Playing as Bellisarius was the best experience IMHO.

As for still playing Attila, I have over 1,200 hours in it and I'm still playing it. smile

That's a very well made video!

I have preordered the Charlemagne add-on.

Just ordered this as well.

I only have 40hrs playing Attila since release day though as I just couldn't get into it, that and playing other games, but hoping this will get me back into playing as I really like the TW series.

What is it about Attila that failed do draw you in 3instein?

I've tried, but not been able to get into Attila either. Not sure why. Still love Rome II, though!

Now Creative Assembly needs to make an Empire II title using the Attila graphics engine. I'd gladly pay 100 bucks for that.

As for Attila or any other TW title for that matter, it helps a lot if you have an academic interest in the historical period being covered by the game.

It's my feeling that most people really aren't familiar at all with the history of the late Roman Empire (i.e. After it split into West and East).

TBH PM, I'm really not sure, maybe just the time period. I much prefer the Middle Ages time period from around 1000AD onwards.

Attila's start date of 395AD is a little early for me as I don't know much about that time period and much prefer the later time frame.

I do like the whole TW gaming style though and it's this that keeps drawing me back, but I always seem to get sidetracked and never got far with Attila.

Which faction in Rome II is good for a new player? Just got Rome 2 from humble weekly bundle with bunch of DLCs.
I've played TW games before but i feel R2 has many new features and changes.

The campaigns for Rome (all three factions) are pretty easy and recommended for newcomers to the game.

I started playing the new Charlemagne campaign last night and this feels so much like what a Medieval Total War 3 would be like. The campaign starts in 772 AD and the artwork for both the map and the unit cards has that distinctive early Medieval style. I'm loving it so far.

I'll probably pick it up...I would really like to play something similar to Medieval...

I picked this DLC up about two weeks ago and have been playing it every chance I have had since. I had trouble getting into Attila but no trouble getting into this DLC, for some reason. My campaign is as the Kingdom of Mercia. I like pretty much everything about the game, but find the diplomacy and family/nobility features particularly engaging. I have noticed that diplomacy seems to work more logically now than previous titles, and that allies actually send armies to reinforce me fairly often. Of course, I reciprocate wink. Also, the family/nobility feature is pretty fun to tinker with and reminds me some of Crusader Kings. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

The "Age of Charlemagne" DLC is essentially Medieval: Total War 3 in my opinion. I've enjoyed it a lot as well and have already played as all of the factions except for Westphalia. The toughest challenge for me was playing as the Danes and I found it easiest as the Emirate of Cordoba.
