Foods that you find too expensive to eat at all! I guess they call them "delicacies".

So we bought a nice filet of my favorite fish (Trout) on sale for $13 ... regularly $18! (hey, I’m nowhere near rich)

I Googled it and little did I know that I could grill a filet for 7 minutes per side directly on the BBQ! The taste of this slightly fatty fish just blows my mind!

Here are the steps I learned ...

Grab a sharp knife and put some half deep slices into the filet about an inch apart. Rub in some olive oil, fresh ground pepper and sea salt on both sides of the filet (even though the one side might have skin).

Start the BBQ and leave it on high. Dial the heat down to medium/low when you put the filet on.

Lemon seems to be a really popular final seasoning although I used a Mediterranean spice and it tastes delicious. Use whatever you think might taste good.

Now we constantly have our eye on the price of Trout! Any alternative fish ideas would be appreciated.

Ice Cold in Alex or Eating in ...
Trout is delicious and easier to catch than salmon - well so I've found wink

On Wednesday we had smoked trout and smoked salmon in our fish pie along with king prawns and pangusa.

Sea Bass is probably about the most expensive fish around here, not being much of a fish eater I've never tried it. Tuesday is market day in the village here, and we get a van that sells fish but I still feel we are too far from the sea to get the really good fish.

Maaatjes haring met ijuin is my wife's favourite. (pickled herring with onion)

With your BBQ recipe, Tuna and particularly Swordfish are absolutely great
