Long time since I have noticed anything from RAF_Louvert. Lou, are you so busy getting the map for Alsace together? I hope it's nothing more serious. Although: this is serious enough! I bet it's a helluva lot of work!

. Thanks for the concern Olham. Up until this last Saturday night I'd been spending all my spare moments working on the Alsace recce. However, since then I've been spending my free time at the hospital as my mother, who is 88 and still lives at home on her own, fell and broke her right arm just below the shoulder, and fractured her pelvis in two spots. She's doing well, all things considered, and will be getting moved from the hospital to a rehab home tomorrow so she can get physical therapy for about the next two months and hopefully be able to go back to living at home. She's a tough old bird as this is the third time in the last five years that she has fallen and broken something only to heal up and go back home and continue living on her own. I should be so lucky to bounce back as well as she does at her age. As for my Alsace mapping project, here is the recce at this point: .

Nice to hear from you, Lou, and I knew you were working hard on that map, Sir - thank you for the many hours; I will excessively use this map, once it is ready. Sorry to hear about your mom's accident though! She's a tough old bird as this is the third time in the last five years that she has fallen and broken something only to heal up and go back home and continue living on her own.
Eighty-eight - then she was born 1927, I think? Yeah, those who were born in the first third of the last century are often very sturdy, "scuffproof stuff", and I bet she will soon be baking cake again. I wish you all the best for her recovery from here! PS: The roads seem to line up quite nicely with the Google maps, it seems?

Raine, thanks for the best wishes. And likely that will be me as well when, and if, I reach her age group.
Olham, I agree, those born in that era do seem extraordinarily tough. Also, my mistype - she is 89 and was born in 1925. Regarding the roads on the map, those always seem to line up closely with real world roads, as do the rail lines and the lakes. Everything else in the sim landscape though is hit-and-miss when it comes to being in the same location as its real world counterpart. Thus the need for these navigation maps.

Well, that is SOMEthing to navigate after - following roads, you can most often set a flight path to follow, and find your mission area, and back home. And bigger lakes are good landmarks for a quick rough orientation IMHO.

Best Wishes for a fast Recovery from me, too. It is really nice, that she still can live her own Life like she wants at that age :-) Sometimes, when one meets certain old People, you can somehow instantly see, that they did everything right in Life. ...reminds me of a Customer of mine, he basically is an 80 Year old Playboy LOL Still in top physical Condition, owns some Haciendas in Spain, a few (!) Speedboats, a Vintage Car Collection... and two Years ago he opened up a Discotheque. I could tell you more, but the bottom line is: Who doesn't want to be exactly like that in that Age?

Thank you Maeran, Nietzsche, and Robert for your kind wishes, they are very much appreciated. Mom was moved from the hospital to the rehab home yesterday afternoon and her therapy began immediately. She is hoping to be up and walking around in the next week and while the therapists and doctors all say such an attitude is great, she needs to know it will be six to eight weeks before she will actually be back to a point where she can go home. Knowing my Mom she will likely beat their estimates by a fair amount.

I bet she is one of the type that will bake a cake for the whole reha department, on the third day, in their kitchen!
