I'll get lynched for this, but ...
I really enjoy the 3 Star Wars prequels. As in, I've watched them a number of times and still think they're worth watching again.
Same with the two new Star Trek movies, for my money much better than any of the original or next generation flicks.
But then, I've never felt the adoration and love for Star Wars and Star Trek - both hugely overrated franchises in my book.

I really like Wing Commander. Terrible movie but at least it has some good actors in it like David Warner and Jurgen Prochnow.

Swayze and a Predator would have been stinkin' awesome. Nobody puts a Predator in the corner!! Yea, but can he lift Predator over his head and still maintain balance for the big finale? I mean Ms Grey seems to be a featherweight compared to the 7ft 2 muscular Yautja dude from another mother!

John Carter (of Mars). It bombed AND I think it got trashed by many reviewers. Hmm 51 rotten tomatoes... thats better than I thought itd rate. But potential audience word of mouth seemed to sink it faster than the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. And yet, I enjoyed it!
No, its not a thinker. Yes lots of cgi. Dialogue includes lots of clunky names that end up confusing the audience. But I still had fun

I recall reading that Disney had to write off over 100 million in loses from that film. Ouch. That's ok, the Marvel and Star Wars franchises have more than picked up the slack.

I liked it also, and I have heard (and think it is very plausible) that part of the reason it failed is the name. John Carter. What is that? It is dull, and makes me think it will be about some guy in a suit running his business empire. If they had called it 'A princess of Mars', you immediately have people thinking of adventure and fantasy and space opera (even if they don't know what space opera is).

Absolutely right on target. I've read quite a few scifi novels in my life and I had no idea what "John Carter" was in reference to when I first heard about the film.

I like the battle scenes in Alexander.
Colin Farrell was not a good casting choice.
Rosario Dawson tho...

I actually liked The Last Airbender. I've seen much much worse than that one. I think it got so much bad press because the director was M. Night Shyamalan.
