Saw the Peanuts movie yesterday, there was a surprisingly large amount of good WWI dogfight action, including some reasonable Camel models!
The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

When we saw the trailer, my girlfriend wondered what I was talking about when I said, "ah! the great fighter ace!" umm, "EX-" girlfriend? or is that being too harsh?

Will take my daughter to see it.
Is it any good overall? Yeah, it was. If you are of a certain age and look fondly back on The Great Pumpkin, or the Christmas special or "Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown", it won't replace those, it is more like a series of classic Peanuts vignettes loosely centered around a Little Red Headed Girl A Plot. There's a lot of legitimately funny stuff and the robust B Plot is a Snoopy vs Red Baron story. It would of been awesome with a more confident main story that wasn't so worried about being reverential to the past, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. They also sampled the original Snoopy voice from Bill Melendez, which was a hoot! How was the Doghouse DM/FM? Quite good, I think they nailed the torque on it and when it takes damage...well, let's just say it helps to have an onboard mechanic...

Rick, so it's not set to a modern PC story line?
Onboard mechanic..? ...Woodstock?

We took my (autistic) son to see it on his 30th birthday. We really enjoyed it. It certainly isn't set to a modern PC story line. It runs a dual-plot, as Snoopy reacts to events in the movie with his fanatsy flights - and a runaway Fokker Triplane model (in the "real" world, not Snoopy's dogfights) adds a random factor of humor as well! I was also really happy to see Patty & Violet back, they'd been gone for years - with Lucy, they use to just verbally hammer on poor Charlie Brown! Well do I remember girls like that from elementary school!
I was reading a review, and it was noted by Charles Schultz's son (executive producer) that they were very strict with the plot for the sake of the "Peanuts" legacy - i.e "if there was one fart joke, we would've walked out." So no kids on cellphones, no PC buffonery, Lucy and the others are as rotten as ever - it was pretty pure Peanuts.
And yes, Woodstock was the onboard Mechanic. It does help to be familiar with the original Halloween and Christmas specials (it's the 50th anniversary of the Christmas special this year). But still a great movie.
