I've been away from DCS for a while, and have slowly been getting back into it again. I have most of the moduals, but i'm thinking about picking up the L-39 for something different. I loved the one in FSX way back (forgot the developers name). I cant find any reviews online and there are not many posts about it. Is it good? how does it fly?

I like the l-39 a lot. It's under powered and bearly armed but it is very enjoyable to fly. It has replaced the p-51 as my go to "cruisin" aircraft that I jump into when I don't really feel like combat. Of coarse the ZA version will be along soon without any extra charge. Though I have only used the muti seat feature a couple time(which is only partially implemented ATM) I still think the possibilities of this are going to be awesome. You can tell ED put a lot of attention to details in order to replicate the L-39 as closely as possible.
The only drawback I could think of is as lightly armed trainer its role in combat is very limited, nothing but a direct hit from the rocket or bombs can stop an APC. To me just the general flying from NDB to NDB in IMC is worth the price of admission, and it will only get better with the ZA.
Edit: sorry this is not a very indepth technical review, hope it helps

It's also replaced other planes as my go-to cruising around plane, and I've been thoroughly enjoying the little jet. Took me a little while to figure out the parking brake though.

Are you thinking about the L-39 by CaptainSim, for FS? I had that one as well. I love the DCS L-39! I have always been particular to that aircraft. There's something about those old east block trainers. It handles really well in DCS 1.5. You need to conserve energy, because the engine won't help you out if you're in a tight spot. The systems are as advanced as any DCS level module, but it's a relatively simple aircraft, so the learning curve isn't too steep. It is, after all, a trainer Looking forward to try backseat multiplayer! There was another one from LotusSim. The Captainsim was originally for FS2002 IIRC. The LotusSim one was really good - loved to fly it.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Bought it last night. I couldnt activate it until this afternoon due to upgrades they were doing to Starforce (thats what they said). Anyhow, its working now and took my first flight with it today. Wow! what a nice model! Better than i expected. Flies really nice and looks great too. I have a lot to learn, but so far its a real beauty!
It was the Lotus sim version I was talking about for FSX. I really liked that plane. My favorite for FSX.
I also really like the L-39. There is one at my local airport and the owner is always outside cleaning it. Never see him fly it though although he says he does every other weekend. I think he shares it with someone.
