Well its something. Its crappy as hell. But its something.

There is simply a heck of alot I just do not know about in the cocpit config. But weird clipping issues, crappy controls, using manual gear shift blows up the engine, and something wrong with my high poly rigging of the dash board. This is the low poly one for ai vehicles. I have no idea why this works or how it works.

Maybe a start of getting is better. Who knows.

Best part is this....

Drive it for about a minute the fuel tank catches fire.

As jacked up as this is right now, there is potential. Its actually kind of fun to drive around in. If you manage to not set the fuel tank on fire. No clue how to make manual transmission not set fire to your pants just yet.

Just goes to show how big the learning curve is to mod some games. Wonder if the developers would put out a modding kit like some other games. Would help to sell the game I would think. Mods seem to extend the life of a game as well.

Glad you are trying and hope you eventually succeed. The basic models look good.

Cheers

Sabow vehicles are pretty complex under the hood so to speak. 99.9 percent of modder types will fail bringing things in and getting them to work right. After years just starting to see some things get in that are legit and playable. I still do not know if this will work out. May be like my old playable m113 from like 3 years back... utterly borked and hopeless. Or the shot gol that was less fouled up, but still fouled up. You could drive it. You could sort of shoot the gun...kind of. It would crash the game a lot and nothing worked right. This guy as a vehicle is even more basic.

My m38 model is quite good for a sane game model on triangle count. Textures are still getting worked on, certainly not done. But if I can get more things to work right like the high poly dash board and gauges for driver there is still a higher poly .50 cal and sights to make. The one on here was intended for ai and not in your face. Right now my spec map and the odd gloss map that sabow uses are BS temp things. Makes model look bad. And some issues going on with converting texture over to game I am not happy with. But that can all get sorted. In short, it ain't done.

I know someone at gravi that likes this model. And for about a minute had a guy at Tripwire talking to people. But meep. Really need to move to an easier game engine to plop my crap into for giggles.

In SABOW BMP's are a bit much for the M2HB. Real world I did know someone who killed one with a .50 off a HWMMV. But in game with AP rounds BRDM2 and BTR60 are fair game.

BTW. Here is model with textures actually behaving themselves. Not done. But not butchered with a malfunctioning spec and weird gloss map.

Another small victory. The higher poly much more detailed dash board now shows up when in jeep. Still epic weird draw issues happening. I think this is from the bit in config entitled sync. Ie...its not really set up at all.

Shame you cannot get them in the game as mods, all that work, but keep trying. thumbsup

Still at it. Stuck in the config work and probably will be for quite some time. Need to get basic functions working right and stable. Getting there...vary vary slowly.

And then we have goof ball gunner pose and no idea how to make it not look retarded. Gunner needs new pose and probably animation for gun elevation and depression. That will probably never happen. frown

All M38a1's or their South Korean made clone.

Considering how tricky getting a playable vehicle into Sabow is, its best to take it on in small bites. While making a tank with interior would be really neat, its also vary time consuming. Without being able to get into the tank and take measurements as well as see how everything works it would never be up the the level of quality I would want. Rigging with interior is hard and pretty complex. Right now there would be zero chance I could get it to work right. Because I tried that a few years ago. Then there is the animation problems.

This jeep I am pretty sure now i will get working most if not all the way. Plus this was the sort of suicide clown car I would have been running around in looking for tanks had I had the same job I had once upon a time. Folks look down on the lowly jeep, but a jeep with a radio is dangerous. A jeep with a recoiless rifle in ambush is dangerous. They are really easy to hide from tanks. Even in sabow. In short, I will get to play scout in a clown car again and control ai forces when no tanks are around in game. No, its not a tank. Maybe some day I get there. But right now its IMO better to have something playable that works than nothing playable at all.

Adding in things like a working steering wheel and place holders for more high poly .50 cal. OOPS.

YA...

Various experiments trying to get this and that working. Binoculars is proving trouble some. That is why the TC (truck commander) is standing up goofy. If he is "turned out" they work. Which makes no sense in a jeep where you don't DO THAT. Atempted another solution with the gunners binoculars. Makes game unstable and sort of works using choose optic keys of sabow and not B or the interface. UGH.

Right now it works fine if you just sit in the TC seat and just give orders. That at least works. biggrin

driving jeep under water. Took sometime for crew to bail out. That was interesting. Took dive off of bridge do to crazy left turn bug I can not seem to solve.

Now how to get the marker lights to show as 2 separate light options. No idea there either. Lots and lots of I do not know WTF right now. Getting old fast.

Exciting stuff.... I figured out how to make the working gauges. Ya I said it looked easy. It is. So long as you assign the right cockpit mesh there on. LOL Forgot 0 equals 1 right. DUH! biggrin

Might make a little video of this thing soon. Its not done and its still borked all over the place but running over bushes in the jeep is sort of fun right?

Woot! x2. Got the manual gear shift working. Well sort of. Its crazy as using the T62 set up. But it moves and stuff with the gear changes. Small victories.

Well, as far as the speedometer is concerned 15 miles an hour is as fast it will go. Clearly something I set up wrong there. Feels more like 30.

Fuel gauge seems to work right. As does the battery/alternator. No idea with the temp and oil pressure gauges. If the temp is right explains the exploding engine problem. Ok, not really. Not a clue where that is set up in config. Something I clearly must have done, typical copy/paste not knowing what the hell does what.

Well crap! Can not go faster than 24 km aka 15 miles an hour on any surface including paved roads. Now that is NOT ok.
